Can anyone help me decide if this is a welsummer roo or maybe a different breed? They were all meant to be welsummer pullets. It’s 3 weeks old, no sign of a comb, but the others all have tiny combs already. Markings are completely different from its chick mates. But the legs are pretty big I think!
I massaged a little bit yesterday and her cop was empty this morning! Come to think of it I’ve had this happen with a couple chicks before, maybe the first time they eat food it take a little longer to digest?
She is sleeping in the dark all night. We have an eco glow. I have taken away water two night in a row and both mornings her crop has been full. She still eats and drinks and acts normal.
I have a 4 day old chick that I’m worried has an impacted crop. I’ve taken away food over night and it is slightly smaller in the morning but not by much. She is eating and drinking, acting normal. But I don’t understand what she could be impacted with.
Her crop was empty when I got her, I made...
Because tractor supply hasn’t had tylan anymore I’m just trying to make sure I have a stock of antibiotics for emergencies. I’ve heavy of people using fishmox but I’m confused on how they administer it. It comes in capsules, do I break it into water? And is the dosage per pound or just one capsule?
Hey all! I have a hen who had a mild case of sour crop that started a week ago. Her breath was bad and crop wasn’t emptying, but it never got large or watery. So I clear that up and now I just need to get her on food again. I’ve been giving her scrambled eggs with probiotic powder on them. She...
Just a little update. After deciding that my roost was too high I lowered it and opted to do nothing about the bumbles. I’ve kept a close eye on the hens feet and most of the bumble are looking better if not gone. There are a couple who look the same but none look worse and still no swelling...
I tried but I couldn’t get a clear shot by myself. It’s just a flat black scab about size of an eraser tip. If I pull it off some bleed and some have just normal skin beneath. The ones that bled I put antibiotic on and bandaged. I don’t see any pus or swelling.
I was inspecting my chickens today and noticed one of them has black scabs on both of her feet. I looked at the rest and about half my flock had the same thing. They’re acting completely normal and the skin wasn’t swollen or hot to the touch. It looks like Bumblefoot but I can’t possible operate...
The hens are looking better now. Still weak from the coccidia and having issues with crops emptying, but that’s to be expected. I have them on corid and probiotics.
