Everyone who's has chickens for a while and farms vaccinates all they're own animals that I know. They castrate, brand, some do surgery, imagine a pregnant cow emergency? The vet is far away, the rancher learns to do cecareans. They stomach tube.....list goes on...
Vaccines are on the easy list...
The rule is if meds don't work in the first few days, switch them. I wish you luck. You may want to lime wash everything.
I left this how to for someone else, hope it helps you. http://tinyfarmblog.com/liming-the-chickenhouse/
I use hydrated lime the caustic kind and only empty out each corral/ barn/run of animals while I do it. My floor is dirt. I till it into the dirt then throw fresh bedding. I let them in as long as theirs no powder in the air. 15 min about. It hasn't harmed anyone in anyway yet. Even the chicks...
By the wsy I read that once they taste blood the cannibalism can start. I don't know if you let them out but id let them out a few hours a day and harvest worms. Red worms if you think its protien.
Busted sorry couldn't really answer you well yesterday. We installed a drain pipe which shoots down to a river. We found the pipe and have no idea where it comes from. Its clean water though.
I didn't know that about cats, I'll tell my daughter she has a ton of cats.
As for drowning I saw a few...
thanks, I think it looks deeper than it is. But some bricks are not a bad idea.
It's always flowing so it shouldn't need to be cleaned I don't think
Some sand around it would look better lol
Then again we just dug it up.
Still bathe and beach what a life. :-)
The chicks are six weeks today...
I love this and so glad we did it. We install irrigation systems so it was very easy, just run pvc put a valve to slow down the flow and something to catch the water.
Anything to make life easier.
Yes I bought the antibiotic to have on hand.
My feed store doesn't have much for goats although I'll ask tomorrow and id rather be safe than sorry.
As you can see I am a very nervous new mom.
I just walked them, they loved it, now they're sun bathing.
We built a fountain for water its pretty...
