Thanks! I will add some protein and will try the frozen water bottles. While they do have shade, it's very hot here. I never thought about it being heat stress possibly
The barring is very faint. Maybe it's not even barring? I caught the little poop head and took some close ups. Am I crazy or does anyone else see the faint barring pattern?
The roo was a crele project bird (not a true crele) and the hen was solid black. This cockeral isn't black. He's blue, but has the added barring and now the odd orange spots that have started to come in the last few weeks (but the first few weeks he was just a solid blue).
My 2 year old hen has a very pale comb. She also seems to keep her mouth slightly open most of the time that I watched her today. However, she is moulting. Is she just weak from moulting or should I be concerned? I do plan to worm her tomorrow and will be worming with Safe-guard in the water...
This little cockeral has me stumped. He was born blue. Now, he's showing barring AND odd orange spots along his back. What on earth is this color? He's around 10 weeks.
I am not sure if this is a cochin chick or a cochin x cochin/brahma, although I suspect the latter. He/She is 3 weeks old, almost 4 weeks. Is this color a partridge or ??? Roo is a crele project color and hens are black.
If it is a partridge, does that mean it's a pullet since there is barring...
Look at this website. This is an example of one with similar coloring to my roo ... just so you all can see what got me to thinking

Bird just looks sun brassed to me.
He's that color even when he's in an enclosed coop year round. So, that means it's not sun fading ... I assume.
WestKnoll - no, he looks nothing like your guy. LOL I guess maybe he is just a bad crele expirement.
I'm still trying to figure out what color this roo is. I saw a golden cuckoo and thought maybe that's the best name for this color? Can anyone give me a shove in the right direction as to what I call this and what colors might have created this? I'm just trying to figure out what colors I would...
He is still alive! Anyone know at what point I should quit using the mash and expect him to eat on his own? I have food and wanter with him, but have yet to see him eat or drink on his own. I am giving him mash and water every few hours.
Here he is as of 8pm tonight with his new mother (a...
Well, he seems much more perky tonight. His eyes are less swollen (the good eye is compltely open and the bad eye is open a hair). He's moving around more and making more noise. I think the chick mash has helped a lot
Mrs R - I hope your little chick's beak grows back.
Not to hijack BUT .... what colors do EE pullets usually occur? I'd like to buy some EE chicks and this would be great to know.
BTW, I also agree this is a pullet.
