Will my ducks be fine in the snow? We haven’t had snow in years, and were not supposed to get any today, but here we are. They have been out for about 30 minutes, but I wanted to know if they could stay out all day. They do have access to their house, which has a heat lamp, although they don’t...
I beleive I have a blue Swedish duck, who has somewhat recently started laying eggs. So far, the egg production has been at the minimum every other night, but some are back to back, and other days she lays two. I know all of that is normal, but twice now she has had three eggs in one night, and...
It is because there is a duck trend, can confirm because I am a victim of it. Sister wanted ducks, but did not realize there had to be any responsibility, so now I am the only one who cares for ours. She planned on just letting them go, which seems to be the popular choice
Is it bad for ducks to toss them so they can try to fly? I have two Swedish ducks, and one Khaki Campbell (not worried about him he can actually fly.) Is it bad to do this? They never seem to have an issue landing but I was told it was bad for them? I have seen them even get off the ground just...

A quick update: I believe the male is different, because when he was up close you can tell he has a whole different pattern compared to the other, his brown chest feathers were multi colored and you could see each individual feather, and the green section of his head wasn’t completely...
I will say they do well. They live on the other side of the lake and fly across early in the morning and go from house to house collecting food from people, but they seem to enjoy our mat as a resting point and will sit out there until they get hungry.
I know that the hen is the same, because she has a chipped bill, but I wasn’t sure if another male would be willing to swim up to people so comfortably. Also not many ducks live in this area of the lake, because they like to hang out near restaurants in different areas. It definitely is possible...
Although I have ducks at home, there is a friendly pair of mallards at a lake we go to, which we feed and see almost every day (it is a large lake and they are wild ducks,) but when we came back after a couple of weeks, the male mallard was gone for a few days, and then reappeared yesterday...
Okay I will definitely try that! I 100% can get those, as my dad loves to grill and we have them in constant supply (and he also loves compost for his garden) so this actually is the perfect solution. Thank you so much!
I could,
I could, but the muddy ness of the run might cause them to go through them ridiculously fast, and I need wood chips for the house I built for them. They really aren’t over there much, only when they need food and water, so maybe I could make a little path for them? I will add my run...
To put it simply, my three ducks have torn apart their run into a muddy mess. Although I don’t plan on keeping them in the run constantly, due to many hawks being in our area, I have been keeping them outside with access to their house and aerially covered run sunce 4 weeks of age. Now that they...
I was just wondering what the best way to separate feed between drakes and hens is? I am a first time duck owner, so I have no clue how I should do that. Any suggestions? Thanks!
