    GUINEA ACTING ILL, worried

Quote: Thank you for your reply! It's the hen, she had only been sitting for about a week before she left the eggs and started to act like this. I'm thinking that the eggs might've gotten wet with her in the thunderstorm. I dunno why they walk 'em through the wet grass.. You'd figure they...

    GUINEA ACTING ILL, worried

Last week, the three of my guineas decided that it was time to ALL try to hatch some keets. Well, three nights ago, we had some seriously heavy, hard rain. After it stopped, I went to check on the guineas and one was soaking wet. Not knowing what to do, since guineas are extremely odd with...

    Salmonella - Mount Healthy Hatcheries

Quote: "I knew this was going too smooth" <-- exactly what I was thinking! I'm going to call them in a bit, I'll see what they say. I know that the hatchery was tested again for contamination yesterday(?) and they found nothing, so either it was a small outbreak, or they just sold all of...

    Salmonella - Mount Healthy Hatcheries

Quote: Ugh, I will try that. I'll have to call a county over, they're not very useful, but my county's extension office was cut . Thank you for replying, we'll see about this.

    Salmonella - Mount Healthy Hatcheries

GAHHH! I am FREAKING OUT! I bought six chicks, two ducklings from Mount Healthy in April and then three more in May. Now, I just read about a horrible outbreak that's been traced back to Mt. Healthy in Ohio (where I live and purchased my birds). Does anybody have any information on which...

Worried About Ginny the Guinea! ='(

It's completely possible. She's had a good appetite, unlike that of a sick bird. I will try the few days of rest and relaxation (if I can keep her off her feet ). Thank you (both of you)

Worried About Ginny the Guinea! ='(

Thank you for replying! Any suggestion helps. I looked at her legs and her feet, but they look fine to me, but I could be missing something. She walks delicately and slowly, with her legs close together. Kind of like an older woman does.

Worried About Ginny the Guinea! ='(

Today when I went outside to tend to the birds like I always do, I noticed that one of my guineas (my favorite, of course, Ginny) was standing a little oddly. She looked kind of hunch-backy, like a vulture, with her butt down so low that her tail was dragging on the ground, even when she...

Wings droopy, shaking.. SICK, BELOVED ROOSTER - PLEASE HELP ME!

Quote: That is a very good idea. He's still the same way he was a few days ago. I've been mixing spinach leaves, yogurt, oats, and other things I can find in his food, but maybe bird vitamins would be good too. I'll definitely look into those. Thank you.

Wings droopy, shaking.. SICK, BELOVED ROOSTER - PLEASE HELP ME!

Quote: Oh my gosh, I think they might. I didn't even think of that! Hmm, that's a possibility.. I've never liked that feedstore, but I've kept going because the closest. He's definitely gonna have to go outside now, I've just got to figure out how. Thanks for the story about your mother's...

Wings droopy, shaking.. SICK, BELOVED ROOSTER - PLEASE HELP ME!

Quote: Yes, he likes to sunbathe in the sun that comes in through the windows. Darn cute when he does, too... It's freezing outside right now.. I don't want to just plunge him out there into the weather. How could I do that, gradually, without shocking him?

Wings droopy, shaking.. SICK, BELOVED ROOSTER - PLEASE HELP ME!

Quote: All I can say is . Love is a very good thing, but proper care is FAR more important! Rooster, over a year old, living in a 12" x 24" cage in the basement and on medicated starter feed until he got sick. I sincerely hope there are details you left out. I've read your other post, and...
