Thanks for the clarification. My experience in other livestock and matters is you gotta pick where to start using the best info you can get and make adjustments from there based on your unique circumstances. All info is good info
Seems like 1) its a bad idea to add keets to a hen 2) I need more than 3 guineas
It’s always challenging when someone has little to no experience on an issue and gets polar opposite suggestions. Mostly because there isn’t a one-size-fits all solution. But I think this answered my question...
I may. It fit in both categories but the primary question is about whether a hen would adopt more after raising her own for 1.5 weeks. The chicken thread seemed more applicable.
They are French Guineas...a much larger bird. But we will be getting 3-day old keets. I figured because they are a bigger guinea they would grow fast and catch up quick...but maybe not...?
Hello all! I have a rather odd question. I have a broody hen who is due March 9th with 8 chicks. I am planning on adding 3 guinea hens to our flock which are available March 21st. Do you think I could slip these under the momma hen with the then-to-be 2-week old chicks? I am not sure if momma...

Well I went with @Azygous and put a small container of grit in there and continued to give them small treats. They did exactly as predicted, filled up on the grit then moved to the food. All is well! Thank you for the advice!
Hi guys - I just got my first batch of chicks in. They are a mixed batch of 7. They seem to be doing pretty well so far (no pasty butt) but I have an issue with the chicks eating grit. The first day the chickies ate starter - they definitely know what starter is as they have gone through...
I have never been to one but was thinking of taking a drive up from Charlotte to see what goes on. Anyone know what the hours are? We have an egg hunt at 11:30 and I was going to try and get up there by 1:30.
Hello fellow egg-lovers,
Well the chickens are ordered for a May delivery (YEA!) and now I am researching feed sources. I would ideally like to feed my chickens and organic, non-GMO diet...but the prices I am finding for organic feed for both a local place and after shipping online are in the...
