Whole flock acting strange, missing hens

The chicks seem to be sneezing a lot. I don't know if this is a symptom or if it is just because this is the second time they have ever been outside

Whole flock acting strange, missing hens

The one picture is of a hens back feathers. They are eating and drinking as usual. This is the hen that is just sitting there. See how she is sitting back on her haunches? . If I start petting her she stands up and moves away. I just watched her drink. But she hasn't made a peep and just sits...

Whole flock acting strange, missing hens

So a few days ago I noticed my chickens feathers were breaking in half. It started with the rooster or else I would have just thought he was wearing the girls out. The girls have nearly bald patches but only the top halves of the feathers are missing like they all broke in half. Last night two...

The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

One of the antwerps passed yesterday. :( we were expecting it. The chick had been standing weaker than the others and very friendly, which I have learned means it is most likely to die. The two eggs never hatched, sadly. And I have changed my mind about the first chick we got out of our birds...

The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

No there are 2 eggs still in there. I don't know if they will hatch or not. I'm giving them a few more days to make sure. The chicks I ordered came today too. I ordered 8 and they sent 7 extra male barred rock chicks for "warmth". That was an unpleasant surprise but I had no trouble giving the...

The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

She didn't come back. She ran for the hills and didn't look back. I set up a brooder and took the shivering chicks inside. It took a while for them to stop crying as they warmed up. After they were warm they began pecking around, and the older showed the younger how to drink, which was adorable...

The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

I came out to let my chickens out for the day and could hear little baby screams before I even got close. I open the door and all adult chickens come out, including mama. The two chicks are in the back of the coop alone and screaming. Even when I go to check on them and they cry for mom to save...

    Tiny egg??

What is a wind egg? My chickens are all bannies and just started laying a few months ago but they are all the same age. Perhaps I have a late bloomer? I have not cracked it open yet I think I'm going to blow it to try and preserve the shell The egg in the middle, next to the golf ball is one of...

    Laying in the Wrong Place

I just pulled 30 eggs and a hen who'd been missing for 3 days out from under our deck. It was as thrilling as it sounds. I put lots of big rocks in the spot and threw out all the eggs. It took a few days, but they started laying in the house again. I don't have the most experience, but I would...

The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

She is a new mama so I'm nervous. The nest box has high walls. Babies might not be able to get out. It was never intended for any hens to hatch any eggs. And what about after 72 hours if she doesn't get up?
