The run is made from chain link dog runs. One is 6'x6' and the next is 6'x10'.

    Norgaard Chicken Adventures

The Guy Who Started Our Chicken Adventures This is one of our 4 cats, Lewis, and he strolled into the back yard with a small bundle of feathers in his mouth a around mid-August 2009.... And this is the little gal he slobbered over - we think she was about 2 days old and after a bit of sugar...

Our First Coop We have 4 chicks about 4 weeks old now and they have taken over our laundry room (see 1st coop 2009 pictures) they refuse to stay in their plastic crate so it is imparitive that this coop is finished by the weekend! This is the first coop my DH has built and it is beautiful - he...

    Coop Project 2009

Here is the start of the coop: Brad made his own plans up and based our design on having 6-8 chickens, even though we only have 4 at the moment. This seems like an addicting hobby . The dimensions are 4'wide by 6'long. The roof is slanted for rain and to allow more height for the roosting...

Help settle disagreement with the wife: What to cover TOP of run with.

Our run is covered with chain link fencing over about a third of it and the other is covered with corrugated plastic roofing that is semi-transparent in an effort to block the harsh Arizona desert sun. I'm not so sure she's gonna win this one. Brad

Quote: I've heard that too but we've usually been getting an egg per hen a day. Kind of easy to tell since we only have three at the moment. I'm enlarging the pen (chain link dog run) today and we'll see about getting a few more once they get back to consistently laying hard eggs again...

Thank you for your reply feathersnugglers. We got an egg from her yesterday and I know it was her as she is the only EasterEgger we've got. As an added bonus, it was larger than any of her previous eggs. Now this morning, there was a soft egg underneath the evening perch. All intact but...

I also have an hen that has stopped laying about four days ago. Nothing for her or the other two hens has changed and the others are laying one a day. I did find a soft sided cracked egg under the perch two mornings ago. She does not act any differently than before and had been laying an egg a...

Greetings fellow AZ'ers ~ My wife and I have been discussing getting a handful of chickens and settled on building a coop / run this fall. Well, our timetable may have moved up because one of our cats brought us a new baby chick this morning. We have no idea where he got it so the baby peep is...

Woo Hoo!!! Our chicks arrived today!!! *lots of pics* 8/4

Help!! We had planned on getting a coop and run built this fall so we could start our own peeps. Well, one of our cats brought home a baby chick. It appears to only be a day or two old and, thankfully, came through without a scratch. I don't know where it came from so I guess she's home now...
