I was thinking buffs but I'd never seen any with that dark of red on them without any of the black markings. Do you think they're all buffs or buffs and whites?
Any idea what color these two are? They have the black skin, the vaulted head, the feathered legs, and the 5 toes so I'd assume they're silkie but I've never seen any colored like this before. The 4 are kind of the usual off white color of white silkie but 2 are red with a wide white band down...
Here's a few photos I took of my Welsh Harlequins, and Khaki Campbell's this morning. I love watching them in the snow. I'm going to have to get some more since my hen to drake ratio is way off. Anyone recommend a hatchery or breeder that ships? Anyone have both breeds? I'm considering just...
I'm trying to decide on a turkey breed for this spring I'm leaning towards raising Holland Whites but I'm not convinced. I'd like to see photos of dressed or cooked birds by breed and any comments you had on taste in particular but free range qualities, feed consumption rates, and personality...
So my hens are molting...they were sold to me as hens at point of lay but they were underweight and did start laying a few months after I got them, they are small and didn't grow any after I got them, just put on weight. I have 10 they were laying great for a while then 5-6 eggs only, then 3-4...
I have 4 young Muscovy ducks. I think 1 male 2 female and one unsure.
one big duck, and 3 smaller ducks, one is the same size as the 2 I think are female but its more aggressive then the big duck, it always raises its head feathers at me and at the bigger duck.
I wasn't worried but today it...
Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I know anyone who deals with big companies, hatcheries or other has had or will have some kind of negative experience eventually, but sometimes its just nice to be a raving maniac about it, lol. :)
Its definitely not cool and I really did like Welp hatchery, for one of the big ones it was pretty good, but all things with time I guess. I did send them a very nice long reply in regards to their abrupt response back to me. Their email to me was rather reminiscent of a particularly long finger...
I am so frustrated with Welp hatchery right now! I have always had nothing but great luck and good experiences with them until this last shipment. I ordered 2 males and 10 females of the same breed. I ended up with 16 total so four extra. And its been a few months and I ended up with 12 males...
I am thinking of ordering some New Hampshire (red) bantams from Ideal Poultry and was wondering if anyone has ordered this breed and what did you think? Did you like them? What kind of quality were they. Can someone post pics if possible?
I'm also thinking about single comb Rhode Island Red...
I think she's pretty too, and right now she's a little bit smaller then a white leghorn, but I don't think she is fully mature so might get a little bigger still? I have no idea how old she is so who knows? I have a few other hens the same size, age, and exact color of her so I thought maybe...
She's just recently gotten the black feathering on her head and it seems to be continuing down her back. She also has an extremely long tail and I don't think she is full grown since she's still getting new feathers without molting and has grown since I've had her and her comb is pale pink not...
Thanks! I'm hoping to get some chicks out of these guys, I'll be separating him and my nice NH hens and putting some of my plainer NH hens in as well, I'm curious to see how he improves the line and colors in the next generation. And the wind was terrible that day, blowing his tail every which...
Here's my boy, he takes off each time I walk outside with the camera, so these are through the window photos. One day I'll catch him off guard and get a good photo of him...hopefully.
And one of my hens
