so i made a post yesterday about my chickens having cocci. i had been giving them a continuing dose of ampro since all their poops didnt look firm yet. but it seemed like they were ceacal (sp?) dropping so i switched them over to vitamin water. this morning all my chickens looked fine except...
okay this puts my mind at ease! 95% of the dropping are normal, but there are always one or two piles that look like what you describe. otherwise they are very alert, happy and eating and drinking well.
so i lost two little 10 week old chicks to cocci....they had blood in their poop and it has been a very wet fall. so i have been doing the cocci tx in their water for about a week now and the blood has gone away, but some of them still have runny diarrhea poops instead of well formed poop. my...
she was what was in a "mill run" which is where you get a bunch of mixed chicks from a hatchery (the place that breeds/sells chicks). i actually got him at a petting zoo who gets in new batches of chicks every few weeks lol. the good news is i have a lady who buys all my chickens that i dont...
you know she..um i mean he? isnt that much bigger than the bantum cochins i have. it came from a hatchery, so i am not sure why they would mix birds on purpose. ughhh i really wanted an EE girl!
NOOOO! really?!? i am so bummed. i have no idea what a saddle feather or hackles are (off to google that!) because i am really new at this. man i really wanted this chicken to be a girl :(
so i have a young flock of layers, all ranging from 10 to 15 weeks. they have been on a fermented chick starter, and i have questions about once i switch them over to egg laying feed. i still plan on fermenting their feed (they cant get enough of it and i have almost zero waste!), but i have...
thank you for the confirmation. isnt her coloring beautiful?! and her coloring hasnt changed from 4 weeks old, the colors have only gotten brighter. she is the only EE in my flock and such a sweet little thing :)
thank you very much! i was told she was an americana but they were not sure (it was a mixed group) and i know EE's get mixed up with americanas all the time. i am excited to see what color eggs she will lay :)
