My experience with GFF was not so great. They got my phone number wrong also, twice, along with no notice of shipping. The second time the post office left the chicks in a cold storage room and they all died. A stand by postmaster was in charge and he never thought of delivering the chicks to...
The wait is killing me. It's a beautiful day outside, in the 70's, and I am inside just staring at the incubator. I still only have had one that has hatched and only three pips out of the remaining 10 eggs left. Its going to be a long day and night.
I have one amerucana chick hatched and more pips working. Now I am trying to come up with Valentine names for them. I like to have a name theme for each batch.
I do have not pips but I do have lots of peeps!! I love to hear them peep before they hatch. This is my first hatch with my new Brinsea and it has been worth every penny. I did not realize how much work my homemade incubator was and what a relief it is to not worry about the hatching...
Four days to lockdown!!!!! Thank goodness week two is over. It is the longest part of the hatching wait.
Last candle count was seven amerucanas and four marans.
So sorry about your loss. I lost my black copper marans rooster this summer and did not have a replacement. My hens were molting and not laying. Now I will have to get more eggs from a breeder to replace him. From now on I will keep two roosters. I always assumed that I could always just...
I want in. I've been stalking this thread and I cannot stay away when I see that other people are also driven to candle their eggs at three days. I though I was the only one who could not resist. I set 9 blue wheaten ameraucana eggs and 7 blue splash marans eggs Saturday morning. I promised...
Thanks for the extra input. Just to be sure, I am going to separate him for awhile to make sure he is not getting plucked. There is one hen who has always stuck by his side. I do not want to make a false assumption and lose a good rooster. I really like him.
I wish that was the case, but he has never had any feathers to pluck. He did not even have baby tail feathers. I have watched him closely and none of the other chickens are missing tail feathers. I guess I knew he was not right. Thank you for your help. I really needed a second opinion.
I have a question about my laced black copper rooster. He is six months old and still does not have tail feathers, other than that he is a beautiful bird. I have noticed that often my marans roosters have tail feathers come in later than my other breeds, but now I'm concerned that he has a...
I am interested in buying 10 Swedish flower hen chicks. I understand that the chicks would cost $100 and $40 for shipping. Do you still have any available?
It is hard to tell in the pictures. I always watch for movement, but if you have any doubt then leave the eggs under the hen. When I am not absolutely sure about an eggs development, I let it sit for a few more days. I wish I could tell you for sure about each egg but my opinion would just be...
I am hatching shipped eggs that arrived with damaged air sacs. They had been shaken so bad that some of the eggs had bubbles in them. The air sacs are over twice as large as they should be. I'm on day 22. I had internal pips on day 21, but no external pips. Can they become shrink wrapped...
