Hey, we recently hatched out a batch of quails in two incubators. It was around 60 eggs and only 25 hatchings, we had a few casualties along the way. The chicks are about 3 days old and we have noticed one particularly wobbly, he has 0 coordination and doesn't walk. His legs seem perfectly fine...
Hey yall, so we have been incubating for about 21 days and hatched out some new and totally adorable quail chicks. a small handful hatched yesterday morning and the rest last night, and now we have a few latecomers hatching out now. In our last night batch of chicks, one of them just came out...
I'm starting to think it might be mycoplasma too, we discovered another quail with swollen irritated eyelids, no gunk though. cleaning with saline solution seemed to work with getting rid of the first quail's eye gunk. I haven't particularly noticed any other symptoms. they seem somewhat active...
I've tried looking for other forums with a similar problem but I just can't seem to get the right answer. Today I noticed on one of my quails this bubbly substance on my quail's eye. it's only on one of them. When I picked him up he seems quite tired and low energy. I've isolated him away from...
a few hours ago i notice one of my male quails (4 months old) acting lethargic, he'd get all fluffy and puffed up and would close his eyes for some time. he feels a little bit lighter and skinnier compared to a few other quails. Im not really sure what to do with him, so far we quarantined him...
UPDATE: I noticed him standing up for a short period of time today, I'm so glad he is recovering. I think he might've just landed weirdly on his legs when they start taking test flights. He is still stumbling around but at least he got up! thank you guys so much
in my experience, our quail hen and all our other quails enjoyed plants that can cover themselves so they can blend in and hide. I've only noticed two of our hens start brooding/ laying in their own nest. I'll have to wait for laying season to observe our other younger hens. Its somewhat also...
Due to the history of quails, quail hens have started to lose their broodiness but it doesn’t mean they aren’t broody at all. From my experience with quails, hens will lay one egg in a safe area and leave the egg/s. Everyday she will stockpile eggs in the same spot for about 10-13 days and then...
The vet situation is difficult. All vets that are nearby only really deal with cats and dogs ect. One time in an urgent situation one of your young quails broke a leg and the veterinarian that apparently specialised with birds wasn’t sure what to do with our quail. Luckily the quail is still...
HELLO BYC!
I’m a young chicken lover and I want to be more educated and help more chicken lovers out. My goal is to become a better chicken owner and help you guys too!
Sadly I don’t have a farm to keep unlimited amounts of chickens but I’d love to experiment and experience everything that...
Hello! So we recently hatched some eggs that were listed as “surprise eggs”. the white/Grey rooster chick is feathered and doesn’t have any features of a Silkie other than black skin. But his feathers aren’t silkie.. like at all. No fluff, just normal feathers. If he was a polish wouldn’t he...
He’s two weeks old today. He’s condition has gotten slightly better today but still not much has changed. The original brooder we kept 10 chicks in is in the above gallery. We quarantined him off to stop the other chicks from trampling over him. He eats and drinks fine so far. To clarify we have...
