Here are some new and improved photos of my three likely light Brahma/Colombian Rock mix chickens. We are still up in the air about whether they are pullets or cockerels. I suspect chicken #1 is a pullet, and # 2 and 3 are maybe cockerels, but totally unsure. Any educated guesses would be...
Hmmm, well looking at that picture, despite the larger comb and waddles I'd say my cochin looks much more like your pullet than the rooster, my chicken does not have anything resembling the darker hackle feathers...yet. I know it was hatched this past spring, so I doubt he/she is older than 6...
I hope you are right! It's definitely possible that the age is off. Although even if he/she is closer to 4 or 5 months old, the comb and waddles have been more prominent and pretty bright red for a while now. But everything else looks pretty identical between our two birds. Thanks so much...
Thanks for the input! We are hoping for a hen but if its a Rooster that would be okay too I guess. We have a very mixed flock and most are still adolescents that could be hens or roos. I think we have a dis-proportionally high percentage of roosters in the mix, so we may have to rehome some...
Stormy's comb is pretty round and bulbous. Here is a picture from straight on. Is it possible for a silkie to have a larger comb and wattles and still be a hen. From what I see it seems the hens really do not have them. I ask because I have an older white silkie, around 4.5 months old that...
What did this silkie end up being, a hen or rooster? I have a silkie, "Han Solo" that is about 4-5 months old and looks almost identical, he/she has not crowed yet but we assumed rooster because of the comb and waddles...
Thanks for the replies! We are looking forward to seeing how they look when they are fully grown. One of the 3 definitely has more foot feathering than the other 2 (he/she is also the largest). They are as tall as our Buff Orpington laying hens but they still have that "adolescent" look to...
I have 3 chickens that were given to me in late July, so they are probably around 3 months old. I was told they are Columbian Rock mix..... but they have some feathers on their feet and they also have a greenish tinge to some of their black rear feathers. They all look very similar in their...
Our Cochin is at least 10-12 weeks old. Any guesses on whether he/she is a boy or girl? We are waiting to name him/her until we have a good idea of the gender. Thanks!!!
