    Olive egger or Cream Legbar!

Not yet. She's just 16 weeks, and her comb is pure yellow, so I think I've got a while to wait. I think she looks more like a legbar right now. This picture is about a month old, but you can see what I mean:

    Olive egger or Cream Legbar!

I'm pretty sure mine turned out to be a Cream Legbar. She's not exactly perfect breed standard, but she looks more like a Legbar than not. I guess the final test will be figuring out what color egg she lays when she starts laying this fall.

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Trouble is an awesome name for an accidental rooster! Love it! Ours was an Australorp. He feathered out pretty quickly, but his comb was bright red at 5 weeks. Looking back on his chick pictures you can tell because his posture was extremely upright compared to the others. I think the pandemic...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thank you, that's good to know. I'm pretty new to this, and the "hen" we had last year who turned out to be a rooster showed definite rooster-like behavior from the beginning. I sort of assumed that was normal, to be strutting around early with their chests puffed out! But I guess there wouldn't...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thanks! That's what I was thinking, too, but I couldn't tell if that was a typical female color pattern or not. The light red on her neck was throwing me off. She's sure a beauty, though, and her beard looks like it's going to be amazing!

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I'm hoping the experts here can help me out. I've been worried about this hatchery-sexed girl since she was a few days old. No particular reason--hopefully I'm just paranoid because I've had an accidental rooster before. She did have a bit more curiosity than the other chicks when she first...

Where to give away my rooster?

You might want to look for your state's discussion thread on here, too. They're in the forum called "Where Am I? Where Are You?" There's a sticky post at the top that will help you find your state's thread. If it's active, that can be a good place to post your rooster, too. It may be easier...

Where to give away my rooster?

I had an accidental rooster last year that was supposed to be a sexed pullet. I posted on the "rehome a rooster" thread on this site. Within an hour of posting, a local chicken keeper had arranged to pick him up. By the end of the week he was living the high life in a "bachelor pad" on the other...

    Olive egger or Cream Legbar!

Cool! Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to keep checking this as my girl keeps growing. She's just shy of 2 weeks right now. Taco is adorable. Great name!

    Olive egger or Cream Legbar!

What did you end up with? I just got a mystery chick that's either a Cream Legbar or an Olive Egger, so I'm searching the forums for pictures to try to figure out which one she is. I was curious how yours turned out.

    10-day-old Chick Breed Identification Help

We had a White Rock chick last year, and this one looks very different. The White Rock's face and body were a bit more rounded where this girl's is more angular. The White Rock was also a brighter yellow at first. Great breed, though. I wouldn't have minded another one!

    10-day-old Chick Breed Identification Help

I just saw your link on that other thread! Thanks so much for posting it. I had no idea that they kept a list. I'm pretty happy with either of those, honestly. Very cool! My Sussex is much more yellow and brown than the Meal Maker chick is. I don't know if that points to Olive Egger or Legbar...

Australorp 5 weeks male or female?

I agree that it might be a pullet. I had an accidental Australorp roo last year. I just went and double checked my pictures. His comb was VERY red by 6 weeks. He had the start of his wattles at 6 weeks, too. I'd say if it isn't bright red by next week you're probably safe. 😄

    10-day-old Chick Breed Identification Help

Do you know when Legbars get their crest? It almost looks like she has a little tuft starting on the top of her head already. I might be imagining it, though. I can't wait to see how these ladies feather out! Last year was our first batch of chicks, but we got noticeably different colors to...
