    Spraddle Leg Fix!

I just wanted to pass along some helpful information that might help anyone with Coturnix quail suffering from spraddle / splay leg. My wife started doing this process and it worked out amazingly! Any chicks within 3 days old, put in a cardboard egg carton (bottom only with no top) inside...

    Moving Quail Outside Questions

I have rabbits in the barn also, so I know all about the ammonia smell, so much that we clean them weekly! If they can outdo a buck rabbit then I'll tip my hat to them! :)

    Moving Quail Outside Questions

Excellent information, thank you! Drafts won't be a problem as the hutch will be in my barn until the weather warms up and stabilizes in the spring. I really appreciate the help!

    Moving Quail Outside Questions

They're just over 3 weeks old right now. Thanks for the compliment! My father was a carpenter and I learned a lot from him. I just blueprint it out in my head and then go from there. Never was a big "plans" person. hehe

    Moving Quail Outside Questions

Our brooder is inside right now as it's winter and Michigan has been bitter cold this year. I've build my Coturnix a nice hutch that's in my pole barn right now. I would love to move them into it (and keep the hutch inside until spring) but I don't want them to freeze. When would be a good...

    Mini Potbelly Pig Farrowing ???

Hello everyone! We're fairly certain that one of our female pigs is going to farrow within the next few weeks. All of the signs are there. We raise just about everything, but this is our first time with pigs! Currently she's in with 3 others pigs, 1 female and 2 males. They all get along...

HELP, HELP I SCREWED UP.. he's still alive

OMG you should really stop messing with them. Eggs are a one-stop shop. They'll do their own things, they don't need to be helped, or have their shell removed? (Why would you do that??) We raise calls and have learned that after lockdown just WATCH don't TOUCH. 26 days is about right +/- a...

Best type of medium duck to get?

Oh don't be! I love reading what you guys have to say about the duck breeds. It's helping me with deciding on what to get very much so! I plan on getting a breed that lays fairly well, as I do a lot of baking too. I've even used some of my duck eggs for pickling too! Very rich and very good.

    Meyer Hatchery ship times

I have never ordered from Meyer, but I plan on ordering quite a few ducks this year. Are they a pretty good hatchery? I've heard good, and bad. Or is it just luck of the draw?

Best type of medium duck to get?

Hello everyone! I'm looking at replacing all my chickens with ducks (tired of chickens) and we already have a ton of call ducks, as well as a few runner crosses. I was looking at getting a mix of buffs, cayugas, and swedish. I would LOVE Appleyards, but they seem nearly impossible to find...

    Lonely call duck

That's a good question! I know we are having the same problem. I think blocking their view is a good idea. We'll try that!

Help! Losing Feathers!!! Not a molt!

Help help! I have about 10 chickens (out of 20+) that are about 70% naked due to feather loss. It's not a molt, as these are less than a year old. It's not picking, but I'm not sure what is going on. They're losing feathers on their neck, thighs, chest, and completely around their vent...
