One of our two-month-old chicks (a Cuckoo Maran) had a tiny bald spot on her head when we got her at two weeks old. I figured it was a tiny scratch or maybe a congenital abnormality. Unfortunately, as she grows, the spot seems to be growing proportionally with her. It's now about 3/4 the size...
We have our hens now, and they're getting in fine. They're between 11 and 18 weeks old. Pictures here:

The run is 6x6, and the henhouse is 6.5x3.5, I think, with the nest boxes mounted on the side to add a little extra room. I'm thinking if we double the run size, we should be able to have 6-8 hens eventually?
Ok - our coop is done, and our ladies are here!
These are our "ladies". We have a Barred Plymouth Rock, a Buff Orpington, a Silver-Laced Wyandotte, and an Ameracauna.
This is our henhouse. It wasn't quite finished in this picture. It sits in the garage, and has an old kitchen cabinet mounted...

I'm picking up 4 pullots on Sunday, and my coop is pretty much set. The coop is in the garage, and the ladder into it from the run is pretty steep (it's an old bunk bed ladder installed at an angle against a framed opening into the coop). How old do my pullots have to be to make it up the...
Thank you for your replies - the funny and the serious ones! I guess our henhouse is a decent size, but the run isn't terribly big - which is OK, because we can make the run a bit bigger next year if need be. I'm going to try and take and post pictures tomorrow if I can. I think we're about a...
We are almost don with our garage coop. The coop is about 3 ft x 7 ft,, and 3 ft high (+6 inches off the ground). The run (on the outside of the garage, accessible through a framed opening) will be 6x6. How many larger hardy-type hens could be kept under this arrangement? I keep reading...
One more soon-to-be Minneapolis chicken owner here! We hope to start with 4 pullets, and add 2 chicks next summer for the experience when we better know what we're doing. We're building a henhouse in the garage, with an opining into a dog kennel run. We're about 1/4 of the way into the building...
Were just got a permit to put up a coop in our urban Mid-western city backyard. Well be making a run out of dog kennel panels that will make a 3 sided run against the wall of our garage. Were framing an opening into a henhouse in the garage. Well be able to collect eggs and clean the...
Thanks for all your replies. I should have mentioned that my neighbor's dog is a big husky type who'se caught squirrels and such before in the yard. I still think it's quite unlikely that a coon would come into her yard just because they're around, but we're going to put up a 6 foot fence in...
I am trying to set up a small flock of hens (6 or less) in our Midwestern city, but I have a concerned neighbor. We want to have the run be a dog kennel with an opening into a hen house in our garage. Well dig chicken wire into the ground around the coop as extra protection.
My neighbor has...
