    What kind of rooster?

Cool, they came from TSC and nobody had any clue what they were up there. 16 weeks old and I'm already getting one or two eggs every few days. The white ones are 14 weeks. I think are white rocks or white mutts, they have red ears. Thanks for the help guys.

    What kind of rooster?

Thanks, the hens look like this. Was told RSL for them but the rooster came out of the same batch and has the same color and I knew they were supposed to be opposite.

When to switch from chick feed?

I switched mine from chick to grower somewhere around 10-12. I noticed they don't eat near as much of that but they also get old fruits that started to go bad in the basket and table scraps, if there are any... Their feed is still their primary diet and they only get the fruits once a week or...

Building an automatic waterer. What keeps the water clean?

I'm going to start building an automatic rain collection waterer with the cup type drinkers.I also intend on using an inline filter to keep any accidental trash out of the line going to the drinking cups. I'm wondering what I can use to keep the water from turning green. The little 3.5 gallon...

Think I have some mixed breeds

Here is a better picture of my roster and a curious hen. He's colored about the same as the hens. Red body with white wing tips and tail.

Yep, I posted there too. I'm really excited to get some fresh eggs. It's been almost three years since I've had backyard chickens.

Think I have some mixed breeds

Thank you for the description. My rooster is all red with a little black on his wings and he's growing a white tail. That's good news on the outlaying everything but a leghorn. I was worried that I got meat birds from TSC and they wouldn't be good layers. I've read that if I were to incubate...

Thanks, took a lot of work going up. The cockerel is a big guy, he looks thin in this picture but he's very rounded and loves to eat all the time. I'm being told he's a Red Sex Link. I just looked and I don't have a good picture of him. He's just started crowing, and its really funny. It's...

Think I have some mixed breeds

Here is a full body shot on one of the white ones. They have yellowish legs with pretty good sized feet. Sorry I'm still new to all the breeds, what are ISA and RSLs? And here's a picture of all the red guys. The solid red ones ended up in my freezer. They were getting really big and starting...

Think I have some mixed breeds

The white ones can fly over the 6' fence if they want to a little bit on the spooky side too. They are only slightly smaller than the red pullets. The red ones are 12 weeks, whites are around 10 weeks.

Thanks guys... took a bit of cash to build but I shouldn't ever have to replace it. It's 4'x8' and very roomy for my birds, they seem to enjoy it. The run is 8'x16' and is fenced under the coop too, so they have that space to go get out of the sun. Here's some more pictures of the build and the...

Think I have some mixed breeds

I got some chickens this year to start my first flock since moving into the new house. Second flock of chickens ever. All of the new flock were purchased from my local Tractor Supply Company. I was told the red ones were red rangers. I got 4 straight run and 6 sexed pullets. I ended up loosing...

Hey y'all, I joined years ago but never made any posts and ended up moving away and leaving my chickens with the person who still lived in the house. I'm back in my own home now and I have chickens again! I found some plans online and modified them to my needs and started buliding. Here are some...

    New member and broody hen.

Let me first introduce myself. My name is Robin, I live in South Carolina and I have 8 chickens. One Black Australorp rooster, four Black Australorp hens(same parents as rooster). Two are what I think are Americaunas, they are a brownish color with short fuzzy feathers around the sides of their...
