almost 21 weeks. She just started laying and we've only gotten 3 eggs. If you had told me 2 weeks ago that she was a rooster, I would have believed you.
All I know is that these two birds are the only two caged together. One of the two of them is laying, and I really don't think that it's that Polish X (Especially since I've heard him crow-- once)
Yeah, I've had chickens change drastically in looks as they get older. I have an Ameraucana hen that I posted photos of today, she used to be all silver and how she also has red and and yellow feathers.
I suppose you know your situation best and whether or not it would be possible for her to...
Yeah, her only options are Ameraucana or Polish/Ameraucana, and she doesn't appear to have any Polish traits, but that coloring is the oddest thing ever.
Here's a top view of his comb.
Also, here are some photos of a hen that came from the same batch of eggs. She's possibly the ugliest hen I've ever seen and she has a personality to match.
I am scratching my head at what caused her to look like this. She hatched a gorgeous silver...
Hello again, I'm back with this crazy Speckled Sussex again. I've been sharing photos of this bird since "she" was 8 weeks old. "She" is now 26 weeks old and I think definitely looking like a rooster. It's been very confusing, because for awhile I was getting differenly shaped, differently...
Hello, I'm seeking your help again to see what you all think about this bird...
This allegedly is a Speckled Sussex pullet. I got "her" back in May and she was between 6-8 weeks old then, so I'm guessing she's around 16-20 weeks old now... No eggs, no crows- so I'm just not sure...
I...
I am a first hatching mama, and something is happening to my babies. When i went to check on them this morning, one 4 day old chick had died and my 2 day old baby doesn't act right. She seems like she's gasping for air and she's crying out loudly. She is still standing, but seems very wobbly...
Keep an eye on that little one trying to come out of the skinny end. The air.cell isn't on that side and I've read that they can die trying to hatch. That happened to one of mine and I ended up "helping" a bit.
I started with 40 and 28 went into lock down. Of those 21 had definite movement on day18.
When I left a little bit ago, I had 11 babies and two more pips.
I was really worried none were going to hatch-- their air cells looked WAY smaller than the diagram that I've seen.
Oh that stinks!! We had an 8 ft rat snake residing in our old coop. It only messed with eggs once, but it I caught it with an egg in its mouth and it totally grossed me out!
