    Chick pipped day 18???

He hatched that evening!! No one got shrink wrapped thankfully when I moved everyone off the auto turner. How amazing, to get a surprise early arrival. I think some chicks are just impatient!

    Heat lamp out, 76* ok?

Do you have any way to provide a little heat, say, hot water bottle? Maybe put some hot water in a jug and place it in there just to help them get through? I am afraid they would chill. I have no experience in this happening to my chicks, I hope someone else chimes in.

    Chick pipped day 18???

So he pipped but he just keeps pecking the same hole he already made. He is chirping and poking his beak out over and over. I think I see pale yellow, unabsorbed yolks in the egg still, looks like still absorbing. Will update with any more info!

    Chick pipped day 18???

Okay I wont touch anything. I hear chirping from my other eggs. If I had temps too high and they are hatching early, is there anything I can do or do I just sit and wait?

    Chick pipped day 18???

I went to put my eggs in lockdown and found someone already pipped!! I had the lid off for a minute or two. I put him in my backup bator and cranked the humidity. He squeaked a lot when I picked him up but now that he is in the new bator he isn't making any noise and now I'm freaking out...

    Check out my MHP

PVC with 12"×24" Sunbeam Heating pad. None of the PVC is glued so I can switch the legs out for longer legs Any feed back? Still debating how to cover the top. Going back and forth between different things to put on top.

Hey! Am I crazy for disagreeing?

Yes the article makes a good point, how these measures are not taken due to breed disposition, but due to living conditions. Anyone here need to debeak their brown eggs layers???

Anyone use these pens for baby chicks?

Yes, it would be but they will eventually integrate into my moms currently flock once all is said and done, a predator proof structure I built which is two coops and two runs all in a long structure about 45 feet long, with a fenced in yard with 200 linear ft fencing and also free ranging...

Anyone use these pens for baby chicks?

They will be living at my mother's house, they will have a huge coop and run (6×6 coop and 6×12 ft run with free ranging eventually). My mother lives an hour away. My plan is to raise them until they are hardy and then drive them to her. Am I crazy? @_@ Thank you so much, this definitely seem...

Anyone use these pens for baby chicks?

This is all such good info, everyone! I will be using MHP for sure. I was planning on using my side room but now you have me re thinking that. I do have the option of my side porch or my yard. Is that do able? This is my porch. And my cat just now because he is so cute!

Are Easter Egger harder to sex than other breeds?

I think newly hatched chicks would only be able to sexed up they were an auto sexing breed. Maybe someone out there is breeding auto sexing easter EggBars or something 0_0
