What do people with roosters they don't want or can't get rid of? I have way to many roosters I have 1 white rock, 3 barnyard mixes, and 3 silver laced wyandotte roosters. I have no idea what to do with them. I have been trying get rid of the white rock or over a year now. But no one wants any...
I went to my local TSC today they had red sex link pullet, bantams, white rocks, silver laced wyandottes, and ducklings. They may had something else but I can't remember now. I picked out 8 of the silver laced wyandottes. I have been wanting some of them since last year when they had them but...
Ok, I'm going to try this one more time. This is a 8 week old chick that I suspect that might be a rooster. I can't really tell yet though. I could tell pretty much my White Rock rooster was one when he was a 4 week old rooster. This one is a mixed breed though. So I'm not sure how long it takes...
My chickens are free range chickens. But I decided to go ahead and buy chick starter yesterday. Good thing I did because my feed store was about out. I separated the mother and her chicks and put them in a different pen for now. I have 2 more hens I need to move today or tomorrow with their...
I have one more question. What should I feed them? Do I have to feed the mother hen and chicks the chick starter? Can I feed them scratch feed? I know I'm not suppose to feed layer feed. But I was wondering if I can give them the scratch? The little feed store here don't sell the flock raiser...
I have a hen that I put 6 fertile eggs under on July 9th. She has had 2 chicks hatch out so far. One of the chicks died trying to get out of the egg. She still has 3 more eggs under her. I was wondering how long I should keep her on the other eggs? Will she go off them by herself?
This is my...
Thanks for the reply. I think I will give her another chance. I really hope we can get some chicks this time.
The reason I didn't get any fertile eggs before yesterday is we had a lot going on. We was without power for 9 days after the big storm we got on June 29th. So getting fertile eggs...
I have 3 hens that went broody on me. The first hen went broody last Saturday she is sitting on some non fertile eggs. Can I still put some fertile eggs under her today? I have a second hen that went broody Monday. I put fertile eggs under her yesterday I was only able to get 5 from my parents...
Thanks for the reply. But they died. I checked they looked full term but had not absorbed the yolk sac all the way.
I don't know if I will try again or not. I'm just really depressed about it right now.
Today is 23, the temp dropped down to 97 and humidity was over 80% there is no sign of life in the eggs. They are not peeping, moving and there is no pipping. I thought I heard a chick peep yesterday morning but I have not heard any thing since. So I'm thinking the humidity may have killed them. :(
I haven't heard any more peeping since this morning. Thanks for the replies. I hope you all get chicks. I'm not sure what to think now. I hope they do hatch in the next couple of days. I hope they are ok. They are not rocking back and forth either. I just heard a few peeps.
OMG! I can't believe it! I heard peeping this morning!
I guess my next question is how long do you think it will take them to hatch since I heard them peep?
