How long do new layers lay soft shelled eggs and it still be considered “normal”?

Oh yes, absolutely. It seems like over the course of a month or so everything lined out. 😊 It was maybe 2 of our chickens that laid the soft ones while the others never did. It just takes a little bit of time for their systems to get in sync. ☺️

The Mystery of the White Egg

She definitely looks like a BO and it was probably just a blip with her system. 😊 We had one of our silkies, who always lays the prettiest, shimmery, cream colored egg, lay a nearly solid white, matte colored egg day before yesterday. 😂 Our RIR, who typically lays a solid brown egg, will...

    Disappeared: Entire Flock of Chickens

Were there any tire tracks anywhere? Footprints of any kind? Not sure if it’s been dry or wet in the area, dry conditions making it more difficult to see tracks but I’d be curious. Are there other neighbors nearby that may have noticed a vehicle? Anyone else nearby have game cams or other...

It’s good to know my new layers aren’t the only ones. 🥰 Hopefully pues get the kinks straightened out SOON. ☺️

We hardly ever find sleds around here! 😂 Usually have to order them lol! Rubbermaid Brute kids work well too though for that purpose. 😜 I’m going to try to locate a small plastic pool today.

I think maybe you have mine confused with the other person who commented earlier lol. Mine don’t free range. The other person commented that theirs do. Ours are in a large enclosed run and their primary food is the layer feed. 😊 We placed fake eggs in the boxes 2 or 3 weeks ago. 😉

How long do new layers lay soft shelled eggs and it still be considered “normal”?

VERY helpful information, thank you SO much!! 🤩 We actually did do a gallon of Sav A Chick day before yesterday as we knew the girls were hot and could probably benefit from them. Having the measurements for different amounts of water is very handy. I will have to finagle room in my freezers...

How long do new layers lay soft shelled eggs and it still be considered “normal”?

The humidity with the heat here is wretched. I would think if yours free range then even if they did lay a shell less or soft shelled egg, it would have been eaten. Ours aren’t free range as we live in the city and it was only happenstance that I walked in right after someone laid a shell less...

How long do new layers lay soft shelled eggs and it still be considered “normal”?

They’re not getting too many treats. I merely added all necessary info because someone always asks. They’re not under any stress at all except for late last week into Saturday our neighbor had some trees cut down. The chainsaws did bother them a bit but they’ve since chilled again. They’re just...

How long do new layers lay soft shelled eggs and it still be considered “normal”?

Hello, all! Our girls FINALLY started laying in the last 2 weeks or so 🥳 and one of our BR laid one shellless egg (that was a weird find to see the chickens eating 😳) and has so far laid 3-4 more but they’ve all been soft shelled. We have another new lawithin the last few days laying small soft...

    Arkansas folks speak up.........

We ordered hemp for our coop. We used pine shavings in the beginning but this hemp is AWESOME. Once we finished building our big coop, we put hemp in there. It’s sooo much easier to clean, smells like hemp still even days later lol as long as you clean it daily or every other day, and can be...
