Pros: Has EVERYTHING!
Gail Dammarow has done it again! Her other book, Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, was a great, educational read. This is even better! Anything I could ever need or want to know, it's in there! It's fun and helpful. Hooray for The Chicken Encyclopedia! :ya
Pros: Has almost everything a beginner could want
Cons: Doesnt give much help on a couple topics...
Like I said above under pros, this book has a lot of helpful ideas and pictures. I knew just what to do when I raised my chicks while referring to this book.It doesn't talk much about illnesses, pecking order, and injures like I'd have wanted, but otherwise, it's a great book!
Pros: Good layers, strong birds, very sweet
Cons: Well, mine are a little agressive...
I have two of these beautiful yet plain hens. They're both a good size and lay wonderful eggs. They aren't shy at all and sometimes are a bit aggressive, so I can understand how some people might judge them because of that. They're wonderful birds, really, and mine let me snuggle them. They're like the glue that keeps my flock together and in order.
