Pros: Extremely friendly, docile, tame, calm, quiet, cute little brown eggs 3-4 per week, great for beginners and children.
I have 3 Cochin Bantam hens that I absolutely adore! There like little dogs lol Coco is 1, and when I come to the coop she literally flies up and perches on my shoulder and we will walk around the farm together. They are so docile and good natured. They are great with my toddlers as well. And they actually produce at least 3 eggs per week. All around great bird!

Pros: Big brown egg everyday, quiet, docile, very vocal, friendly, large, consistent, dependable.
Cons: My Rosie had a prolapsed vent, and had to be put down due to the infection at just 18 months of age. The vet said that this is common in high production chickens. No other cons.
My Rhode Island's are very docile and sweet, Big Red even lets me hold her and pet her. Everyday I know I'm going to find big brown eggs from these girls. If you're in it for the eggs, these are your go-to girls!

Pros: Gorgeous, docile, friendly, extremely broody, fluffy, cute crow, protective over their own, great with kids, great for 1st time chicken owners, hardy, can withstand cold weather.
Cons: In my experience, the roosters can be very aggressive towards other roosters, especially smaller, weaker ones.
Overall an excellent choice. I have small children and they are able to hold my silkies and pet them. They make the perfect pet. My roo, Romeo, sleeps with my cat, Jasmine, in our garage every night. If you're looking for a fun, fluffy, cute, friendly pet or if you need a broody hen to hatch your eggs, no matter what breed, then you've got to get a silkie!!!
