Farm Innovators "All-Seasons" Heated Plastic Poultry Fountain - 3 Gal. Model HPF-100, 100-Watt

This 3 gallon poultry fountain is thermostatically controlled to operate only when necessary and...
Pros: Water does not freeze if it doesn't fall apart
Cons: Will not stay together well.
I used this product most of the winter until it fell apart and the top cracked. The problem is that when you fill it and attempt to turn it over and set it down, the two halves will fall apart spilling water all over. It happened multiple times, no matter how careful you are. Very frustrating. Next year I will find something that works better. Don't waste your money. It's not worth it. Wish it did stay together.

Pros: heated water, great handle
Cons: hard to secure base
This is a good product. It kept the water from freezing down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I wish it had a better way to secure the base then the current method.

Pros: the heater worked
Cons: it won't hold water
What a disappointment. The first 2 times the bottom dropped off soaking my feet and pant legs I was not deterred. But when it leaked twice in my hen house drenching everything I started to loose my patience. I carefully caulked the top to the base in the locked position thinking that an air leak in the rim was causing water to leak out. I carefully checked the plug in the base. And then I waited. And ever so gradually the water leaked out. Spilling over the edge and drenching the floor. At least it was in the shower this time. I am taking it back or sending it back to the manufacturer. The maddening thing is that it was always really cold out when I needed it to work. And instead either I got wet feet or the chickens got wet feet. Grrrrrrrr

Pros: Never freezes
Cons: short cord, bottom falls off, cannot hang this thing, water overflows
It does heat the water well, but the bottom is very frustrating to attach, and if not perfectly level, it will slowly empty all over the place. The top is awkward to carry when full, so we have to use a bucket to bring the water to the water dispenser. This was the only water heater my store had. I had no choice. Water freezes very quickly.
Pros: can fit loads in
Cons: allways falls over
i have a feeder but don't now wether to leave it on the floor or hang it up so it is easy for my chickens to eat from.
Pros: Water does not freeze
Cons: hard to fill, spills a lot. cannot hang, cheaply made.
Very poor design but it does do what it advertises. Never had water freeze in it. You absolutly cannot hang this thing by the handle and it MUST sit very level or it will simply empty itself on your floor. To fill it is a chore which is easiest if you just dump a bucket of water on yourself before you start so you wont be so mad when it happens. The top is very flimsy and will fall of when you try to flip it over if you are not very careful. In summary, I would never buy this product if there was another on the market but as to date, this is the only dog in the race.

Pros: does keep water from freezing, VERY inexpensive to operate
Cons: pain in the butt to fill
I bought this to use year round. It works well at keeping the water from freezing even if it is left outside but its so hard to fill and carry, there have been a few times while i was walking it to the coop the bottom spun around and came off spilling water everywhere and then i had to refill it again. does have somwhat of a support to help it stand upsidedown while its being filled. I've just started filling up a bowl every day instead. I will be investing in something that has a top fil and probably won't use it till next winter and only when i absolutely have no other choice. it's a great idea and the heater works well but would probably be easier if it was a top fill. on the up side it costs next to nothing to run. i really didn't even notice a change in my electric bill, it's only 100 watts and is on a thermostat, i also have mine on an outdoor timer so it shuts off at night and comes on arounf 4am to thaw the water before the chickens get up

Pros: It works , easy to see how much water left
Cons: not easy to fill without spilling,
I own 5 of these. I only use in the winter. They do keep water from freezing. My 2 oldest ones did not have short cords factory attached to the base. Those are more prone to popping the circuit breaker than any of the newer type that have a short cord attached. I hung them from the ceiling the first 2 years. That made them easier to splash the bedding and more cleanup. I now have them on solid blocks which solved the problem caused by hanging them. They work well for winter conditions. They don't cost as much to run as some heated water bases. Can not be used outside where wind will chill faster that base can keep water thawed.

Pros: Keeps water from freezing
Cons: Heavy, awkward, cheap looking but not cheap costing
This fills either from the bottom or you can take the base off. However if you take the base off you will soon find that it is **** near impossible to get it back on when it's full of water. So the solution is to fill it though a plastic looking cap at the bottom of the base, and flip it over to carry it to the coop. However, there are no handles other than the plastic bit at the top which is just enough to cut off blood to your fingers and make it near impossible to hang it back up on any hook. Overall, this works well (especially in my climate Montana where it get very cold). On our coldest morning so far (-22F) it was net to see it make the coop look like a hotspring. But if I had to do it all over again I would pay less, and maybe go with a dog heated water bowl or something of the like.

Pros: None
Cons: Hard to fill, hard to carry, hard to plug in.
I was very disappointed in this waterer. It is difficult to fill using the bottom opening. If you remove the base to fill, it is very difficult to get the base back on. It is also hard to carry without sloshing water everywhere. The plug is located in the base (no cord) so I worry about getting shocked when I attach the extension cord to it. I switched to heated dog water bowls for my chickens this year and am much happier with them.

Pros: Heated
Cons: hard to fill without making a mess.
For me this waterer to be a huge disappointment. I find it to be difficult to fill without using a hose. It sloshes everywhere when you turn it over and the bottom has popped completely off on me twice dumping its contents all over. I did not find it to be a good replacement to the metal waterers and heated base.

Pros: Easy to carry, doesn't freeze, easy to clean.
Cons: Short Cord
I bought this waterer over a year ago, and It was worked like a charm every single day since! It nice because I can use it for Ducklings and chicks, and then use it with my adult fowl. The plastic and is good and strong (except for the handle). It is very good at preventing my chickens water from freezing, even in -10 and snow. Th only con is that the cord is only about 8inches, which makes it hard to plug it in without an extension cord.

Pros: Heated
Cons: Bottem kept falling off
I bought this waterer and only used it for 1 day. then took it back. The bottem kept falling off. At the store I bought it from the checker said she saw many returned for the same reason. FI need to fix how it attaches to the bottem. Its funny cause advertising says new Twist and lock system. Well it may be new but it does not work. Noted I was hanging the waterer it may work better if not hung. but there is a handle at the top that looks like it was made to hang.

it works for me
I have had this for over 2 years and it is still working. It took a little getting used to how to use it best. I fill it with a hose, and place it on a cinder block with a small plastic tub underneath to catch any splashed water. I will admit that the first few times I turned it over after filling it I spilled water and a couple of times the base came off after filling it. Once the plastic that secures the base and top became a little scuffed up that didn't happen again.
Pros: None
Cons: Cheap flimsy plastic, hard to fill, falls apart and spills all the water, very short power cord, poorly designed
My son got this for me as a Christmas present so I thought I would try and make it work even after reading a lot of bad reviews about it. It has one of those designs where you lock the bottom on the top part that holds the water with sliding tabs and one opening lets the water out when you turn it upright. The tabs fit so loosely that it comes apart when you flip it, then a couple of gallons of water drench you and the immediate area. Not good when it is freezing out!

Very flimsy construction and poor design. It can be filled by taking a plug out of the bottom but is placed in the middle, so unless you have a hose you have to pour it in somehow as it is too bulky to fit under a faucet (even in the bathtub). It is supposed to hang from a flimsy little handle and the water comes right up to the edge of the rim so any little wiggle and it pours over the edge. Who needs a wet chicken coop in the winter?

The power cord is very short and I don't know how you would keep it out of reach of the chickens. Couldn't tell you how to work that out because I got tired of being soaked and put it in the trash pile.

I wish my son had read all the bad reviews on this piece of junk before he wasted his money.
