Thanks. She is a sweet snuggly fluffy butt. She and I had a special bond and I miss her very much. But I know she will be much happier with other ducks to snuggle with. Ducks need a flock.
My muscovy had my respect, the pekin had my heart.
We have been a duck free home for over a week now. After a skunk got our muscovy we had to find a better home for our sweet pekin. I am absolutely heart broken. I keep thinking I hear them, and when I get home I want to go give them treats. I hope to someday have more ducks. I don't think I will...
Thanks. She is very well behaved and got along well with our Muscovy. She is very social and needs more friends to thrive. She gives big delicious eggs everyday. She is a little over a year old. Will eat your bugs and isn't too loud by pekin standards.
I need a good safe home for a pet pekin. She is very sweet and loves to be pet and held. She is an excellent layer. I love her so much that I know I need to let her go to a home that has other ducks. Some personal health issues are making it hard to give her the kind of life she deserves. This...
We lost our sweet scovy girl and now have a lone Pekin. She is wandering the yard doing this strange silent quacking and head bobbing. I want her to be happy. So I need to either find a new home for my girl that will take care of her or find an adult female duck that is good with people. Our...
Our sweet Muscovy duck was taken by a skunk last night. My husband went to put them in the night pen and caught the jerk in the act. By the time he got his gun the skunk had got away. I feel terrible and keep blaming myself for not putting them away earlier. I really can't take the suggestions...
What do you want to know about them? Are you thinking about them as pets, layers, meat?
I can tell you that mine is loud and messy and I love her more than I ever thought I would love a bird.
Mine does the same thing. She wants nothing to do with a clean pond but if there is a tiny mud puddle in the yard she will find it. She only wants to bathe in dirty water....darn dirty duck
Next weekend I am having some people over to carve pumpkins. We plan on toasting the seeds to have as a snack. Can we give the raw stringy pulpy stuff to the ducks? Should we limit how much of it they eat?
Mine go in at dusk. They go and wait for us to close the gate. The pekin stands guard at the gate until we come tuck them in. We have solar lights and the ducks seem to go in when the lights turn on no matter what time that may be.

:lol:The broody stink eye is almost as deadly as the broody poo. Ours doesn't mind me coming to check on her (bring treats and cool water) but no one else is allowed to go near her. Even my husband who she had originally bonded too is chased off.
Girls will do that even if the boy isn't around. In a few weeks he will be thrilled to have such lovely ladies. I am sure he will figure it out.
We do not have any drakes but our girls will flirt with me. It is pretty gross to have a duck show off her back end. Shameless hussy. My husband calls...
Muscovy and muscovy mixes like to perch but are ok without them. It probably isn't necessary but if you find them perching on top of your feeder/waterer you may want to add one so they don't poop in it. Our girl just uses the edge of her nesting box to perch at night now.
So now, not only do my ducks get better food than many people but they are getting nightly pedicures. I'm treating them for bumble foot and I feel like I am running a day spa for ducks.
Between the long soaks, scrub, and antibacterial gel they get a half an hour of undivided attention. This is...
Ducks are sensitive to metals so I would be careful about canned food. I don't have any science behind it but I wouldn't take the risk.
Seems like you are doing a good job with the snacks. They don't really care too much about variety. To make it a real treat put the greens or fruit in a dish...
