Anyone ever have a rolling detached air cell completely disappear?

I just removed this egg. When I candled on day 13 it had quit and with the veins missing I could now see the rolling air cell again.

Anyone ever have a rolling detached air cell completely disappear?

I have shipped eggs under a broody hen. They arrived with varying degree of detached air cells, so I let them sit overnight upright in an egg carton before giving them to my hen. Most looked much better at that point, but one was still completely rolling. I did not expect a chick to develop...

    July Hatch-a-Long

Agree about darker eggs. I've had marans eggs that I never saw a single vein but hatched out perfect chicks. I always leave the dark ones in just in case:)

    July Hatch-a-Long

I adore my SF hens. My SF rooster, Pierre, never stops chattering and humming (he's sweet but incredibly strange compared to my other roosters...). My SF hens are very friendly and act like they don't belong with the other chickens. They follow me around begging for attention and chatting -...

    July Hatch-a-Long

I think they look correct for 7 days. Mine will be hard to mark on the 7 shipped eggs. The air cells are odd shaped on that batch. The SF and mixed eggs should look like yours when I candle on Thursday.

Lol, I had a friend with a mis-sexed rooster. Couldn't figure out why the rooster wouldn't get off the nest. Turned out "he" was a broody hen:)

    July Hatch-a-Long

I just set two batches of eggs yesterday so I would love to join. Hatch alongs are always fun! I have a broody hen with 10 eggs, 2 or 3 of each - speckled Sussex, lav orps, dark Brahma, and 3 mixes from my free range. The Sussex, brahmas, and orpingtons are shipped eggs. Then in my homemade...

APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

Day 20, five pips out of eight so far. I hear lots of peeping. My marans are the only ones that haven't done anything yet, but they're always last to hatch for me.

APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

Day 18. I've removed two eggs this week, one was a no-start, one looked like it quit around day 7. So I have 8 remaining going into lockdown tonight. I can't wait to see these little ones! They're hatch date is Thurs - my daughter's 13th bday. She's pretty excited to see what her...

APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

I love all the pictures! Can't wait for ours to pop out. Day 7 candling completed. 10/10 are developing and look great. The olive egg and marans aren't easy to see veins in but the "blobs" are wiggling around!

APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

Mine are due 4/30 as well. I know it's too early to candle (Day 3) but it's my bday sooo... lol;). I took out the 4 lightest eggs, non-marans, and checked. All 4 show an eye and starting veins. Whoohoo! The dark brown and the green eggs I won't candle until day 7.

APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

Last minute joining, anyone else? Should hatch 4/30 on my daughter's 13th birthday. I set 10 eggs today from various hens with my golden cuckoo marans rooster, Rye. Homemade incubator, plus I have a broody hen that I may let take over some or all once I move her to a separate coop where I...

    Faverolles Thread

If not faverolles, maybe sultans? Several hatcheries sell them and they'd have 5 toes. Any crest at all?

That's too bad - sorry about losing Luna. It's hard to lose such a pillar of the flock.

    Faverolles Thread

I hatched eggs from FancyFavie who's on BYC. They were bautiful healthy chicks. She's in SE MI if I remember correctly.

    Faverolles Thread

I hatched out six salmon faverolles in April. Upon hatching three were solid yellow, two had the stripes, and one had just a splotch of dark on its neck. The solid yellows all were males. The two with stripes and one with the splotch were females. I know that's not the norm but it makes me...

Wow you've all been busy while I was gone camping! I did a quick read through - I was a little disappointed about our cool weather while camping but feeling so thankful after seeing Fancy's pics! Ben - I have a silkie mystery as well. She/he is 11wks old and I'm leaning toward pullet but I...
