Looks like production red hens more likely than Rhode Island Red and just knowing that makes me think black star(black sex links) and maybe a brahma without any good pics
To answer some questions-
Yes show quality roosters have have issues breeding not necessarily due to build but, heavy build with the combo of short thick legs.
Breeders will use artificial insemination in this case to breed.
This is not my experience to be common - many Cornish are more on...
I sell show quality Marans and am near clayton Georgia :) north georgia
Mine won reserve champion and champion in the last show I went to.
I sell splash blue and black French copper Marans.
There is a show in dahlonega Georgia feb 17 with a huge swap section. I may be there too :)
Pm me cuz I...
I have both and I like the blue better although you can't show them and it be a recognized color sometimes.
Blue x blue can give u 25% splash as well as blue and black, that's why I like them too.
Here's a pic.
black pullet

I actually looked at those too... But the breasts don't look as big as regular large fowl Cornish... I think the body type looks slender for Cornish. Just my opinion.
They would probably lay well.. Seems like the Cornish lacking the thick body style like his- end up laying better than the meat...
Heather this forum is standard Cornish which is different from Cornish cross (there's probably a better thread just on Cornish cross)
I have had those crosses and people will restrict feed to 3 times a day or restrict feed to avoid legs breaking, ascities, and leg problems. I even had one gorge...
These are mine all grown up. :)
These are the Better body typed ones I just got. I'm so excited! I was so frustrated too.
Got some whites but they have a black feather here and there so I'm gunna try to work on breeding that out. How are y'all's doing? Pics? ;)
Thanks coffee! Here's some better pics. I wish I could keep both. I may wait to see what the younger one looks like. It's tough right I don't know how to tell this young and I have a buyer that will give one of these Roos a great home. When u said "straight rear" photo would his backside be...
Still too much copper? Thanks for the input
Here's the blue pullet in gunna keep for him. (Got one more nice blue I'm saving)
There's a copper roo if anyone wants him!
Thanks I like it too. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Thanks for looking at him. He's such a sweet roo -I was going to keep either him or another nice blue younger cockerel... The other is too young to tell right now. :)
