Not my first egg... (ummm in chicken math I have more than 50 but less than 100 birds, shhhh) but these are my youngest 3 hens... an new line. I really didnt expect them to lay until spring. I was disappointed because it wasn't golden. Maybe next time... a girl can dream!
Got a couple of inches here in the mountains east of ABQ. The chickens are not amused. They keep giving me dirty looks and squacking at me when I open the chicken door and they see snow
Well he finally completed the chicken plucker and the freezer was full very quickly! Yeah! Having a machinist as a neighbor/ friend and a handy hubby they managed to make it quite economically, just not quickly... counting my blessings
My girls have started picking up with their laying in the past couple weeks. Some seem to be glad to be back in the nest and some seem a little cranky. Then again... maybe its the snow and mud thats making them cranky...

It has rained the last 3 days in a row... what a blessing...of course the first 3 times it rained was when I washed cars...lol I would wash them every day to keep getting rain
Rain! glorious rain! My chickens are in a bit of a panic! They have no clue what this is falling from the sky... all but my Polish chickens that run out and play in the rain... so funny!

I got a good hatch out of my BCM this time... It will be a little while before I have eggs but I am thrilled with the birds... great personality and beautiful!
A little less smoke the past couple of days but I think the chickens are just happy to sit in the shade. I am glad that it has been a while since the bear has come to visit. Hopefully the smoke encouraged him to find a new place to dine. Hope all is well for everyone else as well!
I have French Black Copper and some Blue Copper Marans. I have 6 that are almost laying. I also have 20 more that are 8 weeks. It will be a while before I have chicks but check back with me.

hahaha Yup, I'm on your side with the hospital thing... I should probably be on your hubbys side, telling you to go, but there really isn't much they will do for you and you will just come home with some nasty bug to make you sick in a week!!! LOL I'm breaking a few horses this year...
