New Mexico

There are ducks in this weeks Thrifty Nickle... if I were going up there soon I'd call and get a male duck, but I think they'll all be sold by the time I get up there.

Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum but not to the awesome world of poultry. I raised all sorts of chickens on my parents place growing up but had to leave them all behind last year when I moved out and on with my life. BUT I am having chicken fever again now and even though I now live a somewhat Bohemian/urban lifestyle in downtown Clovis I am slowly creating an urban farm on the 1/10 of an acre behind the Art Gallery I live in. No chickens yet but I'm planning on building the coop over the winter and adding an assortment of banties back into my life as soon as spring hits. Lol I'd do it now but I need to sell a few paintings first ^_^

Fellow Clovisites and neighbors I would very much love to meet and get to know you all! How active are we? Are there any NM get togethers planned soon? and BTW is there any kind of farmers market here? Every time I've gone by the Clovis location it's empty.

Feel free to stop by! The gallery is at 218 North Main Clovis NM, right across from the WellsFargo Bank. Hours are 12-5 Mon-Fri but feel free to knock even if we look closed. We are here all the time. I would love to talk chickens or just visit! :-D

Isn't chicken fever great?!?! LOL

This thread is kind of slow right now, everyone is busy with their summer activities, but soon the activity here will pick up, so don't get discouraged.

We are just busy, not ignoring you

What kind of art do you do? I dabble, I keep saying that someday I'll get serious about art but the real horses take up the majority of my time and energy. I think in a few years I'll have the horse business more stable (no pun intended lol), so I'll get into art then. Right now I just do little sketches and paint eggshells, and when I get an actual chunk of time I make my clay cartoon horses and chickens.

Aubrey-welcome. I joined a few months back and it is kind of slow. But I too am hopeing that it picks up. I live way down south and wondered if there were any chicken people by me. I am in animas, nm ...which is close to Lordsburg, NM.

At the moment I am working on a music legends series for the Clovis Music Festival. So far I have a 36x36 Elvis and an 8x10 Beatles, next is Buddy Holly. I work mostly in spray paint but I use other paints and materials as inspired, my signature is that I paint on cardboard.

I ordered 25 bantam assortment from Ideal today. I'm sooooooooo excited! The brooder is ready and at the moment I'm picturing the hen house design being a mini brick house. ^_^ They should arrive tomorrow or Friday!

I've been at the county this weekend, yesterday was the 4H poultry show, lots of hatchery birds but they were cute. However, I met a young girl who lives in Ponderosa and raises Seramas

Those birds are ADORABLE!!! lol And I almost fell in love with a super friendly black duck that had a big, puffy crest on her head... if she'd been a boy I'd have brought him home for my duck

It was a beautiful and sweet duck! lol
