I woke up this morning with 2 more pipped. However my humidity had dropped to 45%. It is back up now but is this something I should worry about since they had pipped with low humidity? Also one pipped on the wrong end of the egg. I hope he makes it.
I would be happy with that hatch rate. You can try to experiment with temp and humidity, but 99.5-100.5 should be about right depending on your incubator.
Beautiful babies!! I'm still a little new to this, but from what I have read newspaper can cause leg problems because they slide around and can't get any traction. You might want to add some pine shavings. Just trying to help out a little.
I still just have the one that hatched this morning...
It's probably just resting, I wouldn't worry about it right now. I've had some zip in just a few minutes and some stop and rest a lot. Just keep an eye on him.
gimmie birdies those are good lookin little chicks. That picture is just going to make these next few days drag out even more. I hope I get a good mix of colors like that but I'm afraid they may all be red since my EE roo is red as well.
I just put some eggs in the incubator. My roo is an EE, mostly red in color and black tail feathers. My hens are amber link and red sex links. Does anyone have experiences with these crosses. Any idea what they will look like. Pictures would be great too.
Thanks.
I have given the quail much more space and they still have large sores on their feet, and some are now losing feathers. I have no idea what is causing this. Again, all the sores are in the same location, where the three front toes all come together on top of the foot. Any ideas to what to do.
Yes they are on top of their feet. It is 9 of them in a 2 x 5 pen, I will try giving them more room. I just thought it was weird that they sores are in the same spot on all the quail.
I need some help with my bobwhite. I have 9 that are 20 weeks old and all are developing large sores on their feet. They are all in the same place, right where all the toes meet on the top of the foot. Can someone please tell me what this is and how to treat it.
I have bobwhite eggs that have been in the incubator for 7 days. The air sacks look very big to me. Some of them appear to be 1/3 of the egg but everything else looks healthy. I'm trying dry incubation and have had the humidity around 35-40. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to...
Hello It has been 10 years since I have raised chickens and am wanting to get a few again. Anyone know of any poultry swaps coming up soon in Southwest VA?
