well depends on the company. some have their own developed breeds and crosses but the base for whites are leghorns like production blacks, ideal 236's(which im a proud owner of a few of), california whites and white leghorns...
i have 1 and its my main incubator. it holds moisture and humidity better than my gqf sportsman. im actually hunting another one. to me hand turning is my zen. i like it gives me a chance to inspect and such. id give no more than 350 for a 5 drawer leahy but if it has more drawers you betcha...

it does look like the yolk sac hasn't drawn up into it. it seems to be ok overall and isbright and alert. i gave him a sip of water before i took the pic i think ill just monitor the situation and report back later
first off i apologize for the fuzzy webcam shot i couldnt find my digital. i hatched my first real batch of ducks and i have 1 wth a problem. his naval area is bulged out and it looks bad hes moving around and can keep himself right up but he cant get up standing yet. is there anything i can do...
i have 6' chicken wire on mine too and it works great. only thing i did different with mine is i ran heavy 4' field fence around the perimeter and lined it all with large rocks that i covered in a thick layer if dirt. its like a fortress. now as for feeding i feed mine their ration in the coop...

ive found its best to order within a 2-3 state range. there are many good hatheries out there. just beware for ones who arent. all hatcheries make mistakes just like any other business. usually if you call them and let it be known and that you demand satisfaction they will rectify the situation
