Does anyone here have a large layer flock of ducks? As in a couple hundred or so. I have a large layer flock and would love to connect with others who have large flocks to be able to share experiences and such.
I have a Pekin drake under a year old. I noticed the other day that he was walking around without his penis retracted. I didn't think much of it because he has been servicing the girls. Yesterday I noticed that again it was hanging out only it is now black in color. There is about an inch-inch...
I had the extras under 2 broodies. Hatch day was Thursday soi think that is my final total at this point. They were shipped eggs so that would account for some of them not hatching
So far this is what has hatched:
French black & blue Marans 1 out of 5
Choc Orpingtons 1 out of 3
Sizzles 3 out of 7
Wyandotte's BBS laced red 2 out of 3
Cream legbars 0 out of 6
Lav marans 3 out of 5
Lav Orpingtons 1 out of 3
Blue splash silkie 0 out of 2
Silver partridge silkie 0 out of 2...
Came out this morning to let everyone out and one of my blue Swedish girls looks like she has a broken leg? She holds it to the side and will put that wing out to support her body when trying to move. I went to lift her and she put her good leg down and used me as a crutch to walk to the water...
Today is day 23. Seven eggs have hatched out of the fifteen that I set (shipped eggs). Four hatched on day 21 and three hatched yesterday on day 22. The hen is still sitting on the eggs. I can't remember how many looked developed when I candled on day 18. Three of the eggs feel heavier than the...

Will do. I went out and checked on the silkie who is now sitting on her half of the shipped eggs (7 eggs) plus the 4 that the other broody gave up on for a total of 11 eggs. I should have marked the ones that the other broody gave up on but I didn't. One has hatched and two have pipped.
Silly me I was so worried about these little guys that I totally forgot about the silkie on the other side of the coop sitting on the other half of the egg order!!!! *palm to face* I put the eggs under her so we will see!
Yesterday was day 21 and 4 chicks have hatched out of 8. There are still 4 eggs in the nest without any pips that I can see. The hen has been very dedicated this entire time and in an enclosed 2'x6' area in the coop. She got up for food and water and her 4 chicks followed her. She ate and drank...
