    The barred rock is a male??? We got 3 barred rocks from tractor supply and they were supposed to be hens, they all look the same as far as tail feathers. The leghorn and Cochin we hatched so really wasn't sure what we would end up with. But I guess tractor supply messed up

    Could someone tell me if I have hens or roosters. The barred rock is 4 months old on December 1st. The Cochin and the white leghorn/ cornish mix are 1 week younger. The barred rock we got from tractor supply and the other 2 we hatched.

    My babies figured it out! It took a couple days for all of them to figure it out. Two of the smaller ones had to be put back in the coop at night but only for a couple of nights and they figured out. I put them halfway up the ramp at night and they figured it out.     When should I remove the screen separating the chicks and Mama from the rest of the flock. My other girls only go in the coop to lay and go in for the night. Are they to little to be around the rest of the flock?

    Ok, I did try and listen for chirping and heard nothing. I put her and her chicks back in her crate and she laying on it now. I will leave her for now and check later today to see if anything has changed. Thanks for all ur help.

    I have a mama that has 3 chicks that have hatched. One on day 21, one on day 22, it is now day 23. I did the float test and candle test it is definitely a viable egg. My question is she doesn't seem to be laying on it. She she with her new chicks teaching them to eat and drink. What should I do?
