    I hatched out some chicks from a RIR rooster, Jersey Giant pullets and RIR pullets. What color should the offspring be mixing a RIR rooster and Jersey Giant pullets? I was not expecting the chicks to be solid black when they hatched.

    No it was a still air. I ordered the eggs and the day before they arrived my home made incubator died so I had to go out to Tractor Supply and buy a Little Giant still air incubator.

    I have a hen that has been sitting on eggs since mid July. The problem we are having is the kids took some of the eggs some time at the end of July when she got up to eat and mixed it with some of the other hens eggs. What a mess...     I think I have two BO roos and one BO pullet. The two seem to be more agressive and the other is more passive. I really hope I don't have too many roos. The coons really put a dent into my flock.

    I converted an old shed into a coop until I get enough money to finish a permanent coop for them. I had 15 barred rock chicks but coons got into the coop and took 7 of them. Since then we have fixed the holes in the coop and moved the chicks in with the older ones behind fencing.
