Strangely I was getting my chicks ready to move in to the garage and realized they’re only 4 1/2 weeks but they look so big to me compared to other years!! do you think they’ll be ok with a brooder plate (night temps in 40’s?)
Definitely now. I have mine in a 30 in high playpen and they can fly out at 3 weeks. Make a frame or something that lays flat on top so there's no chance of anyone getting out. Simple rectangular frame with hardware cloth on top should do it.
Awwww! I remember the first time I saw one of my chicks do that I thought it was having a seizure!!! ;p Perfectly normal. Wait until you see her do it outside! :) I love filming it in slow motion.

My welsummer chicks are almost two weeks old. One of the three has

and their primaries are more grown in) should i be worried this one may be a rooster? I picked all of them for their distinct eye and head
markings so i'm hoping...
i was sure to pick out babies with distinct
head and eye markings. Should i be concerned
