I ask because I have two blue Ameraucana hens that have splashes of black in them. They look similar to my splash roo, except with a blue background instead of white.
I don't know what to call their color...
Feathersite has pictures of Black-breasted Red Orloff from Desert Poultry, but the Desert Poultry website is abandoned. I'm wondering if there's anyone in the US with this variety?
It was just posted to Craigslist.

Has anyone been to the Waynesville swap meet? I won't be able to get there until 10:00 because of a meeting I have Saturday morning. I'm wondering if it is still worth the drive if you don't get there first thing?
Are there many vendors yet?
I tried the trash bag method I mentioned earlier and I really didn't like it. It's too hard to get the bird in the bag, and it's still messy.
I don't like the powders at all because it's so easy to get them on your skin or inhale them. So I looked around, and I found Poultry Protector. I bought...
My sympathy to everyone. I lost 30 chickens (27 pullets/cockerels and 3 adult hens) in one day - during the day. I've found eight bodies in the chicken yard, all with broken necks and usually no other injuries. I kept the survivors inside today, but they didn't even look at the door when I...
I ended up with 31 beautiful b/b/s Ameraucanas - 86% hatch rate.
Last time (my first hatch) i hatched them in egg cartons. This time I tried hatching just on the mesh floor of the incubator. I think all the early hatchers smothered the late hatchers by laying on the eggs. Two of the eggs got...
One hatched and one is zipping! Around 50% have pipped, I think, but are still resting. This is so exciting - I love hatch day!
The first to pip was also the first out of the shell.
I have 38 B/B/S Ameraucanas that were due tomorrow, but I saw the first pip late last night and I'm up to about 30% pipped now. Still none hatched, though - they haven't even started to zip yet. They're very vocal, and I can hardly wait to see how many hatch and what they look like.

That seems like two different birds. When my hens change they still look like hens. Just odd looking. The change is never that big.
The source listed for that "article" is The Daily Mail, a British tabloid. I doubt it is a true story. The Daily Mail has been sued in the past for...
I got three Buckeye hens this summer from Jeff in Miamisburg. Nice guy, nice birds and reliable layers. He did pop in on the Swap Meet thread, so you could look for his username there. Or just email your phone number via Craigs list, and he'll call you back right away.
Yes, I have this incubator and it is styrofoam with a plastic liner for the bottom. The liner has multiple chambers for water to help control the humidity.
Thank you for the replies.
A total of fifteen chicks hatched by the time I woke up this morning, leaving five eggs. A straggler hatched about two hours ago, and the older chicks were pecking it non-stop, so I moved the older 15 out to the brooder and left the straggler and remaining eggs in the...
I've used kiddie pools before, but the problem with them (from my point of view) is it doesn't take long for the chicks to start jumping out.
Earlier this year I found a Kiddie Koop playpen from the 1940s at a thrift store - CHEAP ($15). I thought it was a rabbit hutch until I got it home and...
As of 9 AM, 15 had hatched, two had pipped, and three eggs had no signs of hatching yet. I'm hoping they're all out by the time I get home this afternoon.
I love the pictures of Dipsy BBS chicks! Once mine are out of the incubator, I'll get some pictures, too.
One of the pipped eggs had been...
