    Could the galvanised metal not be electrified??? Have to layers so that the electricity cant jump from the outer to the inner. That way it could be on all the time so any preds woild be stopped but chooks are safe

    Well to start with we didnt want too but its looking like we have no other choice. The rats are out smarting the snap traps. All 4 traps triggered but not a single rat cought, just a tad of blood on the base of a trap, not seen then in 2 days but the dogs just chased on in the front garden now...

    I have rats atm we have the snap traps however they have been able to get the food and trip the traps without getting cought!!!!!!!!! but we havent seen as many since we plugged in a sound wave device near the coop. It dosent kill them just irritates them enouhh to move away from your chooks...

    I read somewhere that vasaline or pertrolium jelly (sorry if thats spelt wrong) is eective in killing the mite as it suffacates it, dont know if anyone has anyone has done it this way, ive not had to deal with it myself. But it mite help in the future if not now
