And I thought roosters only crowed in the morning....

I have a 10 week old Black Cooper Maran that just started to try to make a noise of some sort this morning. It sounded as if a cat was stuck somewhere in the house. We laughed a lot watching him. I only wish I could keep him:( My town is strict with the no rooster law.

    YOGURT FOR CHICKENS ?

I give my girls homemade plain yogurt once a week. They love it. It is like crack to them. One of the farmer's near me told me that it is really good to keep the stomach in check. All I know is that if I put scratch out and yogurt at the same time, they go for the yogurt everytime!

    Greeting from Massachusetts

I have been a lurker for a bit here. I thought I would drop an email to say hello. I am the proud mom of 2 dogs, 2 cats, 7 chickens. I just found out that my one of the two baby chickens I purchased in March is now a rooster - crowing a lot. I guess that is my luck! I am learning as I go...

Chicken pecked and blood appeared, what do I do

Thanks for the helpful advice. I went out first thing this morning and purchased some blue kote and placed it on the butt and placed her back in the coop. They tried to peck and didn't like the blue kote and stopped. I feel so relieved. Thanks again.

Chicken Gagging, tried Safeguard and also mineral oil

I thought it might be gapeworm, that is why I gave her some Safeguard. Do I repeat this again and if so, when? Is there anything more that I can do? I feel so helpless with my poor chick. She comes right to me to pick up everytime I enter the restroom where we are currently keeping her. I...

Chicken Gagging, tried Safeguard and also mineral oil

It has been a week since I had to isolate her due to gagging. I don't have an extra outdoor area, so I have placed her in the bathroom in a dog crate. This morning my husband took a shower with her in there and the entire time she went crazy eating food. She is still gagging and seems weak...
