Check in the hackle feathers. Lift the feathers around the neck so that you can see the skin. If there are mites or lice you should see them there. Also check the legs and see if they are scaly. And check the poop for worms or blood.
awwwwwwww...poor babies! What kind of jerk would put them in a plastic bag? At least you have an excuse for more chicks- and cute chicks! Congrats on the silkies!
Try social services. When they have to take kids out of there homes, they literally come with almost nothing. A stuffed animal could be a little something to snuggle and comfort them.
Anyone let their hens live their lives out? Any input on that? In theory the processing thing seems good, I just don't think I could eat my babies, seriously.
If the lady is reputable, trust her, but know she still may make a mistake. You need to get a close up side pic of her. Looks like a girl from what I can tell , but Im no expert. Oh and a lot of chickens you can pretty much tell at 2 months, even earlier.

5, but the rain has stopped for now, thank God! I went out and did the plastic thing- easier said than done by the way. My fingers are burning they are so cold, and the wind was unbearable, I couldn't hardly get it done. Thanks again everyone for the advice!
Yeah, I am right in the region of the Roanoke River- my house isn't thank God. I am thinking of a way not to drive by it this afternoon- It must be in the road by now!
