Speckled Eggs...

One of my Barred Rocks has been laying now for 2 weeks... the last 3 or 4 days the eggs have been speckled... brown egg with whites "specks"... now today I go out and I find a brown egg with darker brown speckles... Is this normal??? Or is it something I should be worried about... any opinions and advice is appreciated

there's nothing wrong. In fact, some people WANT speckled eggs....

It can be a sign of parasites... Check your birds for mites/lice

Oooh, I just started getting a speckled egg every now and then too! Please, not mites again...

I dont see any mites or lice but, I am new at this and don't really know exactly what to look for and where... I just check in the nest boxes and kick around the bedding looking for any movement and I see nothing... I'm kinda getting the idea that it is nothing to worry about

Every now and then my BR gives me eggs with lavendar speckles. It looks like someone splattered paint on her egg.

Check in the hackle feathers. Lift the feathers around the neck so that you can see the skin. If there are mites or lice you should see them there. Also check the legs and see if they are scaly. And check the poop for worms or blood.

I have two hens that lay speckled eggs. No mites/lice. One lays a very pretty large brown egg iwth darker brown spots. Another lays a jumbo large egg with purple spots. Nice tasty eggs!!
