I had a similar problem, after 2 days of waiting I ended up waiting for dusk, grabbing a 6' fishing net out of my boat, climbing on top of my roof carefully with flashlight & a cooler, & netting them one by one (5 total). Good Luck, very frustrating. Hah...
Hah, I have a few that look something like this- I got a few from an Iranian guy here in Denver, he just called them Kings- I moved them into my heated garage in Denver mine breed like crazy- Not sure if their the same but they kinda look the same for a Noob like myself-
My Pigeons LOVE Mirrors or anything they can see their reflection in. They also seem to love plants although it probably would be a good idea to make sure the plants are not Toxic.
I started at the start of this Pandemic when a lone Pigeon flew into my garage trying to escape from a hawk (The Hawk was thinking of flying in too)- I fed him some toast & we quickly became friends & I named him Cooper-
Not knowing what to feed him I tried various things (he likes Peas too)...
So for the past 1 1/2 months Ive been pretty sick with Covid- (My youngest son it seems brought it home from work, 3 out of my 4 family members got it but my wife didn't for some reason) I spent 3 weeks sick in bed, then 3 weeks in the hospital. (Let me tell ya, I'm 60 years old & I have never...
I'm very new to this & started actually by accident when a pigeon flew into my garage this March. I have 6 pigeons (had another one but it flew off with some other pigeons a month ago & never came back. . )
I actually built a small portable heater for my loft thats outside. It has a thermostat...
I have a loft outside I built, then I built one inside my heated garage for my Pet pigeon & his girlfriend. The outside I have 5 Pigeons total, 3 makes, 2 females. Im very glad someone started this thread considering I'm in Denver & the weather is starting to change-
I let the 2 in my garage...
Although I'm very much a noob to Pigeons I think wild, Feral Pigeons are a beautiful sight! I just love their freedom. They just look so happy with the other pigeons. Where ever I'm at I see them flying with their friends & I love to just watch them from a distance.
Denver has alot of these...
Not to sure if this is where I can post this. . . I looked around using Search so here goes. . .
So I like like right in the city, 8 min from Downtown Denver actually. Denver is very much a wildlife city. Theres so many parks & open spaces its crazy, alot following streams, canals, lakes...
Just caught this thread & I apologize so much. Did she make it? Theres alot of rescues around here, perhaps by you too. You should call around and ask if someone can look at her. Hope this finds you both well.
You should Keep Him! (Ya need to put him somewhere safe though)
I actually didn't realize especially at age 60 that I loved pigeons so much! My friend "Cooper" the Pigeon, flew into my garage escaping from a hawk at the very start of the pandemic. So far it's been 6 months, I built him a...
I'm fairly new to Pigeons, I started with one Pet Pigeon I found at the start of the Pandemic. I started feeding him Toast when I met him, he liked to land on my plate & eat whatever I was eating, Loves Spagetti & Ravioli for some reason so maybe he's Italian, then I tied all kinds of stuff...
Hah, here's perhaps a dumb question, how do they track these bands to you? (The pigeon I found months ago thats now a pet only had a piece of purple yarn tied to his leg)
So I now have 7 pigeons hopefully a couple more babies coming, how do I go about getting them all tied to me somehow. . . ...
My 2 Pet Pigeons dont seem to like them, Haha. . . I've never seen them eat anything so large! I've tried breakig them into parts but they still dont seem to like them- (I havent tried to 5 others in the loft yet but their a little young)
Well I finally got my escaped birds back in their loft just in time for the 100+ deg weather to hit! What I did was ran electricity into their loft & added an inline exhaust fan, and one of them square house fans- Just doing so managed to take that heat down into the 80s- I turn the fans on...
