Peanuts for pigeons?

I just bought these as a treat for our pigeons. Do I give them to them in the shell? Or do I need to remove the shell? I don’t want them to choke! Thank you!

Sorry to say you have to remove the shells. I bought that kind at first but got tired of shelling them. Now I buy the UNSALTED dry roasted peanuts from the grocery store, when on sale if possible. Much more convenient.
Your birds will love you for the peanuts! If they haven't tried them they will need to get a taste first. Break them into smaller pieces. After that they go crazy for them.

To clarify, I get the ones already shelled, in jars, like Planters or a generic.

Thank you! They didn’t seem overly excited when I gave the peanuts to them yesterday but I will keep trying.

I had to throw a few handfuls in the feed/on the floor for them to try them out, now they try to peck through the container anytime I take it out

I buy my shelled peanuts in bulk from the feed store in a 25lb bag. For me and the number of birds I have it is cheaper in the long run.

None of the peanuts ever spoil on me.

My 2 Pet Pigeons dont seem to like them, Haha. . . I've never seen them eat anything so large! I've tried breakig them into parts but they still dont seem to like them- (I havent tried to 5 others in the loft yet but their a little young)
