    We have twin border collie/beagles, Charlie and Lucy... and they treed the coon and kept him there till morning. This tree is right in our side yard about 20' from the chicken coop! Good job guys!!!

    Could not believe it...We put the girls out in their new coop and within 5 hours the dogs were going nuts barking. But the 30-30 I won in the gun raffle took care of him quite nicely. He had to be at least 25 lbs. What is it about chickens that brings all kinds of critters into your yard?

    I have an EE that is about 5 weeks old. He/she does not have a beard, that was the only thing I was told to look for. Any thing else I should look for?

    OMG! It's going to ruin the lawn....!

    We have a 100 lb black lab that is eating the chicken poo so I can't imagine what it would be like without him cleaning up after them...did I mention he likes to give big fat doggie kisses after his ventures with the meats!!! He seriously needs a tic-tac or two when he's through!

    We just told my sister that we had hatched our first baby chicks this last weekend. She had a very concerned look on her face and asked where the mother was. I told her the mothers belonged to a friend of ours. She then said,"Well how are they going to nurse if their mothers aren't here???"

    Thanks for your reply...not what I wanted to hear... but what I expected. I had to help one of the Barred Rocks out of the shell, she is almost half of the size of the others. I wasn't too sure if she was going to make it but today is day 3 for her and she is eating and drinking now. Sooo out...

    Well all of the 4 RIR's hatched, 1 Ameraucana, 5 Barred Rock, one of the Barred Rock pipped and pecked 2/3's of the way around the shell and then expired , there is only one Ameraucana still left in the Bator and it's day 23.     Uh-oh! a day early! ;)

    OK. so the eggs are hatching! Yeah us! the humidity got up to 93% so I pulled the vent plugs (I read somewhere they would drowned if it was too high)...what do I let it get down to before I put it back in? It's down to 86% now...

    Coop Layout and Design questions

    #1 no drywall,im am using 7/16 OSB. #2 cheeper using laminate .#3 6is good , 16x16 ok, mine are going to be 16x18? #4 my roost is going to be even , 24in. high. good luck!
