Twocrows and JJ thanks for replying!
As of now, my quail still lays those brown, soft-shelled, tiny eggs which are really very unlike her regular eggs. She's a prolific egglayer and I hope she gets past this stage soon enough. If more information about possible causes can be given, I will...
Thanks! My quail is still laying those tiny, brown, soft-shelled eggs but overall is doing fine. I sure hope she gets passed this because she's generally a good layer
Hi everyone,
About a month ago I vaccinated my 2 years old female quail against salmonella and newcastle disease. Ever since, there's been a reduction in the number of eggs she lays (used to be each day) and they are deformed - soft shell, brown, the size of a fingernail. It's the first time...

Hi
What does DE stand for? I will make sure to look for some spray with the component you've mentioned. After spraying the bator from the outside yesterday, I noticed the bugs didn't completely disappear, and am worried about it.
Hi everyone,
I have just finished using my king Suro incubator today, and washed it with anti-bacterial soap and mild water. Later today, I placed another egg in the incubator and started using it again. A while after operation, I noticed what appears to be mites or lice crawling on the outside...
Hi Kit,
If what you say is correct, I do hope the chick will get that color, it is really beautiful ! A hen would mean some extra eggs, so that's good too The interesting part is the chick is all blonde, no brown plumage visible at this stage.
Thank you both for the kind comments!
Today I'm going to transfer little Reign to a home-made brooder (just taking a big plastic container and placing EcoGlow 20 in it), and am so excited at the thought of holding the little one in my hand! As for the color variety, I wonder too what turns...
Thank you for your help, Pete, I truly appreciate it
I am so excited at the thought that new life has been created! everything is all set to welcome this lil one into the world
Well, good news!
The chick (now called Reign), hatched around 6~7AM this morning, and is now exploring the interior of the bator. It's blonde in color, although the father is a cinnacom and mother is regular coturnix hen (pictures follow). I took the pictures using my cell phone cam, so the...

It's a good thing the weekend is just around the corner, looking forward to some "zigzaging" then!
Will post updates on the chick's progress - truly incubated like a king (Suro), having all the bator to itself
Having read your guide as well as your comment below, I feel more confident now, knowing the chick is just making its way gradually to independene in a natural way
I am so excited at the thought it may be out sometime soon! How long does it usually take for a quail to shift from external...
Hi Pete,
What a wonderful guide, so detailed and informative - thanks!
A small update:
I opened the incubator and checked the egg - the chick inside peeped at me (so cute! ). I placed the egg inside the incubator away from the fan, and tried positioning so that the crack the chick made...
Thanks for the advice, quail lady.

Hi Pete,
I set the temperature to 65% according to the vendor's suggestion, wouldn't opening the incubator at this stage harm the chick (if it is still alive)?
