anyone having issues getting poor quality birds in the Bielefelders, that don't come close to any standerd (if there is one I hadn't found it) like the problems in the cream legbars?
I will be re candling next week but am thinking only 3-4 possibly made it this far .... looks like most of my own eggs were infertile. I guess I should be thankful for that...
thanks these posts give me hope have 23 eggs (13 of which were shipped) and came home after be gone for a while to find the bator at 115 ish! have them cooling down.... yes I have a two year old daughter that loves to check the eggs am guessing she messed with the controls. UGH! feeling as if I...
these are some I bought as a 4 month old trio, all have them :( I didn't notice their toes due to the shavings when I picked up. Medicated feed is a definate possiblity as the breeder (well hatcher of the eggs) hatches and sells chicks weekly. the eggs came from another breeder, he said he was...
Anyone having issues with crooked toes on their Cream Legbars? (as juvinles or adults) I've been researching and it seems as it could be genetic but maybe a defiency problem. And the only way to tell if it's one way or the other is to hatch eggs from the bird and see if they pass it on. Any...
I have a single Light Brown Leghorn Cockeral hatched Jan. 7, 2014 from some eggs shipped from NC, show lines. Unfortunatly none of the other eggs hatched and he's a he, so seeing if anyone local may be interested. I'm just getting started raising chicks so am not NPIP at this time.
Also have...
that's what I thought.... I have a chick I thought possibly might be one but am thinking the seller of eggs was just plain clueless and despite her telling me they were in seperate pens I have a bunch of mixed breeds. the one I thought might be a bielefelder has green legs. oh well she'll go in...
potential breeds are: giant cochin, silkie, rhodebar, bielefelder, maran x, and delaware (I believe those are it)
Most of the eggs were of med-large size and light tan-brown(only 3 total could of been silkie) 10 of these hatched on day 20 and I lost track after the first 3 of which eggs. it's...
So far very similar. My cl seem slightly less easy going but bought them as older chicks and definatly less food aggressive. (My Brahmas go a little nuts when its feeding time. Not mean)
They're doing better. Am no longer worried about them not getting enough to eat. Ages in my flock range 5 m to 2 yrs. Only other roos are 3 week older than the cl's....they are Brahmas and not even crowing yet. The cl roo is.
Is there a website or book, article that talks about different autosexing breeds, and their phenotypes? I have a trio of cream legbars and planning on getting some bielefelders. I also have possilble rhodebars and bielefelders in the incubator.... I keep an eye on auctions, ebay among others and...
good to know, will try putting them on the roosts after supper tomorrow. They did eat with gusto when I stood by them and kept the other more aggressive ones away. They just give in if another chicken came over to share the bowl, silly chickens. None of the others are being nasty just normal...
I put my trio of cream legbars in with the flock 2 days ago....they are 4 mos old. And seem super docile and no desire to jump in and eat at feeding times. Even the roo runs if hen comes close though he did stand up to another 4 month old roo. They spend most their time cowering in a corner. :(...
