For about a week whenever we go to lock the chickens up at night our rooster Elmer a black australorp is in the nesting box instead of on the roost. Any idea why he is doing this? He is almost a year and a half old and has never done this before.
I have lost 2 hens in the past week, one just today. I got there just before it had time to start eating but a lot of feathers off the neck area and she had the hole in the top of her head where they pierce the brain with their talons to kill the chicken. This is the first time I have ever had...
I don't remember, it's like little granular stuff smaller than their pellets. They have been on it for about a month. This is the first time i've seen anything like this. This is the first time we have wormed them.
While cleaning out my coop I came across this (pic below) it looks like a long worm in it too but we have treated them for worms with the stuff you put in their food. I don't know if the slimy stuff is shell less egg or mucus and the red stuff, not sure if it's blood or intestine. What do you...
Well my poor little hen died this morning, everyone else seems fine, if I notice anyone else getting droopy I will treat them all. Do you have to withdraw from the eggs when using Corid?
I checked but no egg could be felt, I started giving her electrolytes and her poop is still clear runny with white in it. She ate a little bit of scratch from my hand but not much. She just wants to lay around.
She isn't much better today, got her to eat a few bites of scrambled egg and her poop is still watery. Started the worming process today, it goes in their food.
Thank you for your reply, she is about a year or so. She seems a little better tonight so I will keep a close eye on her. Don't think there is any blood, I looked when she went potty and didn't see any but it was watery. They haven't been wormed yet but I did get wormer and intend to do that soon.
I have a hen that just started today acting very tired, standing with her eyes closed and stands with her feathers puffed out and isn't eating or drinking much. I held her on my lap and she just laid there with her eyes closed. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong? There isn't any other signs...
My son lives 2 hrs from me and I have chickens and he keeps a garden, they want my chicken poop. I need to know how to save it for them? We normally add lime to keep the smell down but I don't know if that is ok to go into their compost. First I tried to save it in a plastic bucket with a lid...
