Ok, so here's the whole story. On our first incubation, it yielded a male that we kept that had a mother who was an ameraucana and a father who was a RIR. Then this year, when he was grown up (we named him Oprah, thinking he was a big, outgoing female), we mated him with pure RIR's and Buff's...
So yestreday was day 18, and my brother unplugged the fan. So since the incubator is sadle at shcool, I came in the next morning to find the temp. at 72 degrees! Added on that, I looked in to find three had pipped due to the shock.
We fixed the temp., apparantly he unplugged the wrong plug, and...
Well last year I had two hatches of 20 and both were completely unsuccessful. After they died I cracked the eggs open and it looked like they had been on maybe day 19 or 20. So what did I do wrong? Someone told me that I needed more air circulation, but how do you guys promote air flow in your...
I'm looking for a rooster that I can breed with my ladies. And I can travel up to an hour if necessary to get the rooster. This is early, because I want him next year but I might as well see who's out there. Thanks!
So our new batch of hatched 11 RIR ,2 crossbreed ameracaunas, and we bought 6 Buffs. And one of our chicks Queen Latifa was born with a strange wing with missing feathers. She's been fine for the first few days, but today she had some caked-up poo in her bottom. So we cleaned it out, seperated...
Today 6 peepies hatched, right now 3 are hatching, and tomorrow 12 more are expected to hatch that were put int he bator a day late. I want anyones advice on a few things.
a. My science teacher(and co-incubating partner) put the eggs in a bin with three lights and sawdust on a table. The chicks...
i just kind of put in water randomly in the trenches, but i have a hydrometer to keep the humidity mornal, and it's between 50 and 55 percent. Is that okay?
Hello everyone, i'm incubating with this incubator at my school, and i wanted to know if anyones ever used it before and how well it works. I've heard from the othe rlinks that it's an old model, but does it work well? I also don't know if my teacher still has the directions for it, so how do...
It is the homemade incubator from MissPrissy's post. And the tmep was 95 to 104 because the thermostat sucks. and the humidity stayed around 40 to 50 percent.
I cracked them open using my further judgement and brown decaying goo came out so they were dead but I'm trying again and again until I get some peepies!
I wanted to know if a moderate amount of constant noise in the same room as an incubator will have harmful effects on the chicks inside? Cause while im working the kinks out of my new homemade incubator, my biology teacher is letting me incubate my eggs in his school incubator( which is very...
I am expecting them all to be daed at this point because no cheeping or pipping or moving whatsoever. But when candling them, if I don't see veins then is it dead? Or are they maybe just being hidden?
sorry for a late response but unfortunately it died last night. It looked like the heart beat was getting really weird. So hopefully in a week or two our third times the charm! Thanks for all of the help.
My chick started pipping last night, so he was peeping and poking his beak out but he coudn't get through the tough membrane. For the past 6 hours i have been slowly working away his shell and membrane as he was ready for it. So he has one piece of sheell left which is connected to his bottom...
So half the egg is off and it's fine but should it be trying to hatch out? Because it's peeping but it's just laying in the egg shape even though it can hatch out right now. Is it soaking up the yoke?
