7 month old pullet has NEVER laid and egg.

I don't think she is laying yet. Not squatting. Her comb isn't as red as I would think. Is it possible to have an infertile chicken?

    Is she a he?

She is a pretty girl, but the most shy of the flock.

7 month old pullet has NEVER laid and egg.

She was starting to squat a month ago. She hasn't for several weeks now. Crazy girl. I will be patient. I am hoping from some pretty eggs from this chicken, so watch her lay white eggs.

    Is she a he?

I have 4 chickens, I thought all were hens, but I have an Easter Egger that has never laid an egg. They are about 7 months old. Is she actually a boy? If she is a girl is there anything I can do to help her start laying? Would feeding her some edamame beans help? What did I just read about...

7 month old pullet has NEVER laid and egg.

I have a Easter Egger who was hatched around St. Patricks day, making her about 7 months old. She has yet to lay an egg. I don't think there is anything I can do but wait. I have even threatened her with the stew pot :-) but she just doesn't seem mature enough yet. Her comb is red, but not...

Hen laying twice a day. One egg is egg is great, the other is a rubber egg.

I've been camping and so have not been able to keep up with the posts. Sorry. I have given them chick grit since they were still in the brooder, just as a precaution. They don't seem to eat much of it. That may because I use sand, so I think they get all the grit they need. I'm inclined to...

Hen laying twice a day. One egg is egg is great, the other is a rubber egg.

I am pretty certain which hen is laying the rubber eggs because I have seen her lay one. However, just today, I decided I am not so certain on which one is laying the good egg. Patty was on the nest for a long time today. When she got off there was no egg. (There was a rubber egg on the coop...

Hen laying twice a day. One egg is egg is great, the other is a rubber egg.

My first girl to lay is a Buff Orpington. She has been laying for about a month. At first everything went as I had hoped. She surprised me that she lays almost everyday. Lately she has been laying rubber eggs at night. This happens about 3-5 times a week. When I go out to check on the...

Help! Chickens fighting and drawing blood.

Should I separate them, or let them roost together for the night and hopefully they will be friends again in the morning? Or will I have a very injured chicken by morning?

Help! Chickens fighting and drawing blood.

I replaced the nesting box in the coop today. The new one has a flat roof. Tonight one of the Easter Eggers was standing on the roof, and the other hens were on the roost, which is slightly higher. For some reason both of the Buff Orpingtons started picking on the EEs. (One of the Buff's was...

Calling all egg experts. Why did my chicken lay a shell-less egg?

I was thinking I would eat the egg, cuz its the same thing minus the shell. But after reading your post, it makes me leery of possible contamination when passing through the system. I think I will feed it to the dog. Same question; shouldn't the EEs already be laying? Both Henny Penny and...

Calling all egg experts. Why did my chicken lay a shell-less egg?

Thanks. I was hoping it was just a novice problem. With laying two eggs in one day it makes sense to me that the egg didn't have the time to form the shell. I don't think it is the calcium. The other buff orpington who just started laying two days ago, have signs of too much calcium. I...

Calling all egg experts. Why did my chicken lay a shell-less egg?

Hattie Pattie layed 2 eggs today, the second one was shell-less. Pattie is one of my two Buff Orpingtons. I happened to come outside at the right time and saw her do it. She had already laid an egg today in the nesting box, but when I saw her this afternoon, she was walking kind of funny in...

Can eat the egg if chicken has still been eating medicated feed?

I thought that might be the case for a first egg. It was great to find it. Do hens that have just started laying lay as frequently as they will when they get a little older. I believe Buff Orpington's lay 3 to 4 eggs a week. Is that how she will start out or will she not lay that much at first?

Can eat the egg if chicken has still been eating medicated feed?

So I got my first egg yesterday!!! It was most exciting. However, the egg was really small. The hen is a buff orpington, so I think it should have been larger. I also realized, I have never changed the girls over to a layer feed. So three questions: 1. Is it safe to eat this egg? 2. Is...
