I noticed a crack in one of my button quail eggs (we've got two days to go before hatch date) but the crack was going inwards, not out. So I pulled it out to see what was up. The inside of the egg (yolk and all) was solid. No growth had started. Just... solid... stuff. It's really confusing...
I've been contemplating getting rid of one of my drakes. He's just getting too bossy now that the hormones have kicked in. Even so much as to chase the dog.
Someone forgot to tell the dog that when a duck chases you it's not because he likes you.

Where do you get the duckie diapers. I so want to have a duck or 4 in the house they just poop too much. And diapers would solve that problem. I live in Canada
I got my diapers from Nettie at indoorducks.com. She hand-makes them for you. I love it. And the shiny...
Also, I have a question about feet.
I think Delia may be pigeon toed (this isn't because of the diapering, she was like this ever since I can remember). She's always stood on her own feet. She walks normal, but when she stops or starts she stumbles because she's standing on her feet. Is this a...
Nettie's done it. I swore that I would never have an indoor duck, but then I got the diapers for my baby and now...
I don't think I ever want her to live outside! lol She's such a joy to have in the house, and she gets along so good with the dogs.
Here's my little Delia girl and her snazzy new...
I have a brown male I may be interested in getting rid of, if you were seriously looking. For free if you pick him up. I don't know how far Loxahatchee is from Sarasota, but I suppose I could google it...
He is king duck and bosses my dogs around, or I'd never consider getting rid of him. Such...
I don't have any tips or suggestions, just good luck wishes. Also, if it was a double yolk it would have been impossible for the sibling to absorb the yolk. They aren't attached to both.
Hugo - Aloof (she's the sentry, she stands guard and quacks her head off at the first sign of danger, oh, and don't even let any human think about touching her... unless there's peas involved)
August - Jerk (he's not really a jerk, he's just the king duck and he's going to make sure everyone...
My duckling uses a stuffed deer as her best friend. I didn't think she was really attached to the particular stuffed animal until I switched it out with a blue hippo so I could wash it. Oh, the crying. We were lost without our deer. (She's currently sleeping wtih it right now with her head on...
No, other than that she's acting pretty normal. She's being a lot more clingy tonight than usual. As soon as I walk out of sight she starts crying for me, but that's more personality than health.
/sigh
I'm just worried about my baby.
I did end up completely changing out the water. I also...
Thank you. She only drinks bottled water, though. And even if she didn't we don't have a water softening system. I'm really perplexed.
I don't know if I should take the water away. I'm afraid her body is telling her she's dehydrated. I have no idea what to do for her.
I have a runner duckling that is about two weeks old, and today as I was sitting and watching her drink I noticed that instead of taking a few drinks and then going back to do whatever ducks do when they're not eating/drinking, she didn't leave the water bowl. She sat there for a good five...
I've never seen ducklings do it, but my adults do it to my dogs when they're running them off. I can get them to do it to me when they're all riled up by shaking my hand at them and pointing at them.
So temperamental...

I'm in the Sarasota area. I hatched mine out from eggs on ebay. I'm done hatching because four is my limit, but if you want eggs when Hugo starts laying all you have to do is ask!
