Hello Backyard Chicken Community!
We have 6 hens that are now over 15 months young. I sell eggs to neighbors for $4 a dozen. That money goes to the chickens food account (they work for their food ).
Eggciting news; Francine the EE won a blue ribbon at the last Lane county 4-h fair...
First eggs are the best! If you are as obsessed about your "Babies" as I am, you can preserve the mini egg shells by putting a small hole in the top and bottom and blow the insides into a bowl! Yay for you!!!!!!!!!!
(I wouldn't worry at all about egg shell...
WoW. That's not weird at all! I'm wondering where you got the plants, and how the infestation started bt I'm sure it will be a good story that you will share for a long time
and plus
Unfortunetly the other night our neighbors lost two out of three pullets to a coon. When they received chicks, they were given 6 extra bantams, and they gave most of the chicks to friends. They now have one of the bantams back, and her breed is puzzling.
Her name is Bluegill, she is all black...
Pullet, but I'd like to know... Look at one of the tail feathers and see if the end is pointed or curved (Am i right or does the tail feathers still have to come in?)
I think that almost any breed of hen with moderate to high egg production will be a good pet, as long as they are handed OFTEN as chicks and adults. That makes the biggest difference. (Having children around tends to help) I think that breed isn't everything, because your chickens will develop...
That is a great picture! x2 You can see clearly where the whites are together. Too bad they don't do that when they get older! Thanks for sharing, and a good morning to YOU (And your girls)!
Do you plan to let them roam in your yard, or put any mulch or loose dirt into their pen? That would probably take care of the problem. Dust bathing is a natural instinct, to remove parasites clense and cool their skin. (Just like in other animals) check out these great pictures...
Claire "cuddling" Francine the EE... even right at this moment I can hear her shouting "FRANIE DOESN'T LIKE THAT, TYCHO!"
Also nick-named Granny, Francie, Fran

I'm curious about what his name is... (We used to have a very sweet ee roo that was named Big Mamma, just because he was the biggest ''hen''.
HappyTalons: I think that everyone will become friends eventialy. It is probably very hard for them to bond because of the current size...
